I'm usually a lurker here, but I have a few questions about transferring from a CCC (De Anza in my case) to UCLA.

My main question is, if I'm a student at De Anza, could I still potentially become TAP certified through Foothill college (De Anza's sister school). Would it hurt my application to be enrolled at two different colleges at the same time? Becoming TAP certified entails completion of 6 honors courses with A/B grades (min. 3.5 gpa), correct?

Today marks the beginning of my 3rd quarter at De Anza...is it too late in the game for me to get on this process?

Another question I have is:

De Anza doesn't have a course articulated for either "ECON 41" (Statistics for Economists), and "ECON 11" (Microeconomic Theory)--both of which are prereq's for my major (Business Economics). Would it be wise for me to take these at another community college? I've checked around, and I believe the closest school that offers these classes is Chabot college. Yay or nay?

Chabot college does not offer courses articulated for Econ 41 and Econ 11. As a matter of fact, no school in the nation offers the articulated courses for those except UCLA. In another word, you MUST take those two courses at UCLA (as noted in assist.org). The reason being is that in order to get into Business Economics (remember, you are applying as PRE-business economics major, so you will have to apply again at UCLA once you completed those two courses), you must get at least a 3.5 average in those two courses (which means you have to at least get one B and one A) and UCLA doesn't want students taking those courses at "easier" schools for easy way out. If you can't get it, you are no longer qualifed as Business Economics and will be dropped down to Econ. major.

Well, I recall reading somewhere on this board that if you take a math class at one school you should continue that subject at that school, ex: 1a, 1b, 2a, 2b... but it's fine if you take another subject at another school. however taking the same subject at multiple schools harms you? Maybe I'm wrong about this, but I just want to be sure.

Taking the same subject at different schools is the same as repeating classes. Every school differ on how they view repeat classes. Some will only take your first grade...etc.
