some questions before applying..

hey,

i was just wondering how good the college is for bme major? (biomedical engineering) and how the weather is there compared to other colleges good in biology?? also are there many research opportunities? is it easy to develop a personal relationship with the professor?
which clubs are really popular? also, how are the sports facilities- particularly the swimming pool, track, and gym..

thanks guys

also, how easy is it to get a non need based scholarship to cmu?
private schools are expense…

You can only study biomedical as a double major, but as far as i know- yes, a good program.

The BME program is pretty good, but you need to major in another engineering type additionally. It is easy to develop a personal relationship with the professors and they are all interested in how you’re doing and trying to make you succeed. I don’t know how to answer the question about the weather…it’s not Hawaii or California, but it is similar weather to everywhere in the northeast. The sports facilities are nice. The track is only a few years old and there are like 6 hours everyday when you can use the pool. There are many cardio centers (treadmills, eliptical trainers, bikes, etc), even some of the dorms have them. I don’t really know which clubs are popular…there are a lot of clubs, and almost everyone is involved in at least one.

i haven’t ever really gotten a good answer, and the online descriptions were pretty vague, but does anybody know what the quality of the free-weight room in Skibo is? Am I correct that this is the only free-weight room on campus? From what I read, the one in the UC seems to only have machines

Back when I went to Skibo (around 2003) it had a bunch of different weight machines in addition to a number of sets of free weights. It was definitely only dudes in there, and had a pretty solid locker room smell, as well.

Bring an umbrella. And some boots. Oh, and if you are from Hawaii, etc., bring a coat. And if you forget your umbrella, don’t worry, you’ll probably get a free one.
