Some questions :D

Hey guys! I was going through some Universities and Colleges and really felt in love with Lafayette. It just seem PERFECT from what i’ve read on College Confidential and the college’s website. I want to study Electrical Engineering. Soo I have some questions:

1- What are my chanses of being accepted? Is it hard to get into the engineering course? Would the fact that I’m an international girl harm my chances?
TOEFL IBt- 107, SAT- 1440 (Math- 770, CR- 670, Essay- 15/24), Sat II Math 2- 630, Sat II Physics-720. Also, my grades are pretty good.

2- Are there any scholarships or financial aid that will help me by covering most, if not all, of the tuition fees? I come from a what would be considered in the USA a relatively low-income family.

3- If I choose to double Major may I also choose a Minor? Would it be too much?

4- Are there any Breakdance ot Hip-Hop clubs? Or at least, what types of dance clubs are there?

5- Could you tell me more about the Greek life? How hard is to join a fraternity/ sorority? What are the benefits? Actually I know almost nothing about Greek life so any inormation would be helpful.

Well, thats for now  Thank you and sorry about the long post.

  1. I am a female freshman international student at Laf and it might boost your application since you’re looking at the STEM fields. Your stats are alright and could be a little higher. However, you still have a decent shot. But, admission is not very dependent on your major. Most people jump around when they get here so Lafayette doesn’t lay great emphasis on it.

  2. Lafayette is pretty generous with financial aid(I am on almost full ride). However, look can look up Marquis Scholarship as well.

  3. I know people who are doing to majors and a minor. With engineering it maybe a bit much but you may be able to find a way to do it. It would just be a lot of work.

  4. We have a lot of dance clubs. We have the Dance company which does some hip-hop. We have the salsa club, precision step and the dance team as well. Also, it is really easy to start a new club.

  5. Greek life is when you join a brotherhood or a sisterhood who become your extended support system. They also are great ways to be social and do philanthropy. To join you have to go through a process called rush which includes interacting with sisters from the different chapters and picking your preference. The sisters then decide who they want to accept and place bids. You can’t rush till sophmore year. So, you will have a ton of time to figure it if Greek life is for you.
