Hey guys im currently a sophomore Pre Med Student with a Microbiology major (whats new right)

**I recently added a music minor in piano and was wondering if this would help me any with med school admissions. I know that statistically 66% of Music Majors that apply to med school get in and was wondering a minor would help

**Also i was curious as to how heavily med schools weigh your freshmen grades. my GPA was not as good as it should have been at the end of my freshmen year (3.14). By the time i apply to med school i should have >3.5 (with a lot of work and a lot of summer classes it could be a ~3.65). Will having an increasing trend in grades matter?

**Also i've done A LOT of doctor shadowing already. This summer i went to India and shadowed a wide variety of surgeons and watched a lot of surgeries(saw a kidney transplant) for a month. I've also done lab work and am currently doing research and I should be published with my research group by the time I apply. By the time i apply i will have plenty of research, shadowing, and volunteering hours. How heavily do med schools weigh such EC's and do they compensate for a 3.5 GPA?

Thanks a lot to anybody who takes time to help me out, i'm sure people always ask redundant questions on these forums but i couldn't find any specific answers to my questions by searching. thanks!
