wat up....
im junior right now and i have a couple of questions about the college admissions process....

what kind of ECs do adcoms like to see?...how are these presented on a college application?...can you list all of the ones you are active in or do you just pick a few you can write about?

In terms of ECs, it doesn't really matter what you do (unless you're a recruited athlete, or their orchestra really needs your instrument). What admissions committees really look for is passion and commitment. They want to see that you've been committed to ECs throughout high school, or longer; that you've held leadership positions, earned awards, or showed accomplishments in other ways; and that your ECs complement each other and show real passion for certain areas instead of being randomly selected activities. Just find a few things that you really love and stay involved as much as possible.

On the Common Application, you list 7 activities in order of preference, with space to mention awards and leadership positions. They also ask how long you've been doing each EC, and whether you plan to continue in college. There's a 150-word mini-essay to elaborate on one of your ECs and why it's important to you. You can also attach a resume with more information if you need to. Most other applications have a similar format.
