Some questions

Does being in state help your chance of getting in

I was at a UofM meeting thing locally and one of the admission officer was there and he said if you are applying to CoE, they only look at math part of your sat and math science part of act , is that true?

3 I transferred high school during my freshman year, my grade in freshman and sophomore year were not so good. I got good grades in junior year though , took a lot of ap/ib classes. Would my freshman and sophomore year grades leave a bad impression on the admission officer.

4 I did pretty bad on my first act , only got 29, i am taking it this month on the 13th, so should i wait for the result to come out to apply?

thx for your time.

YES, instate helps a lot!

I'm surprised they told you this. All I can say is, very unscientifically, just about everyone get at least 700 on Math. Verbal/Writing have to be reasonable, ~600.

freshman year grades don't count, recalculate your gpa based on 10th grade, and 11th grade GPA.

It's up to you, but I think with Engineering's median ACT being 30, and you are instate, you should apply as soon as possible. In other words, if I were you, I'd apply right now, unless you are confident that you can get 31+ on the next test. Whatever you do, get your application sent in by end of november, latest-early december, the sooner the better.

i went to an admissions meeting, and what i got out of the blurb about CoE is that the CoE is the only school that specifically looks at subject scores. they look at the whole score, but they check math and science especially.

i'd honestly just apply really early unless you're sure you could raise your score significantly. from what i've heard/read, applying early realllly matters.

good luck with the application process! i've applied (well, my school will be sending out my counselor and teacher rec tomorrow) to CoE this fall too.

i got 800 on sat math, not sure if i should send it in cuz i do pretty bad on reading and writing.

I am applying this month, no later than the end of september
