Thanks dude.

Does a lack of SAT IIs hurt one's chances at University of Chicago? I have a 34 ACT, but only a 2170 SAT....is it true that if you take the SAT IIs, your SAT score is automatically sent with? I think that if this is the case, I would rather just try to bring up my ACT to 35 or 36 (it's math that's killing me--35 in everything but 29 in math)....also, if I sent my SAT scores to University of Chicago when I took the test, will it matter if I don't use that score when I apply, or will they have already seen it?

I don't think 2170 on a SAT is anything to be ashamed of, but what do I know.

i agree.. 2170 is really good... and yes.. any tests u took from college board get sent together.. my score report has my 2 sat II adn my sat I

2170 is solid...

But a 34 on the ACT matches up with a 2200+..so maybe work on the ACT?

Thanks, everybody who has been so reassuring about my SAT scores....I didn't think they were abominable or anything....however, I have had a few people on this board tell me that with a 2170 I would not even have a chance at University of Chicago and that's why I just wanted to see whether it would be a problem for me to just send my ACT scores....thanks! :-)

They're wrong.

yeah, those people were absolutely wrong. firstly, u of c doesn'teven put thatmuch weight on standardized testing. secondly, here are the inter quartile ranges the collegeboard provides on u of c students...

SAT Critical Reading: 670 - 770 81%
SAT Math: 650 - 760 81%
ACT Composite: 28 - 33 42%

The University of Southern California accepts SAT II scores but does not require them.

Is it better for one to take the SATIIs even the colleges doesn't require them? What if they "recommend" but don't "require" them?

bump...(10 chars)

If they recommend them then just take them. Shows that you care.

See www.fairtest.org for a list of schools that are SAT optional.

F&M and Bates are two that come to mind to consider.

I am not very familar with the ACT but isn't a 33 a top score?. Many schools will take either the SAT or the ACT.
