Thanks for posting this.

Just a quick addition...
My s goes to lots of events, concerts and movies right in downtown state college at...
The State Theatre : Centre County's Community Performing Arts Center - Events

Another really fun thing to do is going snow tubing on tussey mountain. If you can get a friend that has a car, it's only a 10 minute drive and it's a great time.

You can also go ice skating at the Penn State Ice Pavilion. The price is pretty cheap and it's fun.

The fitness center isn't included in tuition?

karp - this is/was a great list. I've directed a lot of people to it over the past couple years.

jec - you don't need a car to get to Tussey. Just hop on the CATA B route. My S does this for his PSU skiing class. He's really enjoying that class as he had only been skiing 2 or 3 times previously. Here: . : Tussey Mountain : .

taja - No, the fitness center(s) memberships are not included in tuition. But worth the cost.

Is the gym nice?

They have a skiing class?!

Schedule of Courses KINES - Fall 2009 - UP

check that out. You are required 3 creidts of gym/health classes for grad. Most kines classes count toward that.

tajamariee, the gym on the western part of campus next to Rec Hall is gorgeous. It's brand new. The one near the HUB is also pretty nice. I am not as big a fan of the gym up in East, but it gets the job done.

Thanks G Dad...I always wanted to discount the notion that the only thing to do at PSU is party. Sure, there is plenty of that to go around, but there are also other things to do if one is willing to take a little time and look. I think PSU has some wonderful things to offer.

Just an addition. PSU intercollegiate sports teams have a 'Code Blue' event to encourage student support of non-revenue sports. Each team(?) has a Code Blue event. Usually, the first (I think) 200 students who show up at the event receive a PSU code blue t-shirt. I believe there are no admission fees and there is also free food (pizza).

cwryan - That sounds really awesome, and I'm excited xD

jec - Thanks for the info!

I just wonder how they teach scuba....

pool at the natatorium. They suit you up and you go at it.

today was almost warm enough for the outdoor pool!

Awesome! That sounds like an interesting class, lol.

Ahh thank you SO much for posting this, and please, if anyone knows of anything else to do up there, please post! I'm going to UP in the fall and I'm not really into the really heavy partying scene, so knowing that stuff like this exists is comforting.
