Some things to make you drool....

A Wednesday?

Oh, well. Gotta work. Sorry!

Z-man,

You left out the sexiest ships in the Navy :-)

<a href="http://www.msc.navy.mil/inventory/pics/shughart.jpg%5B/url%5D">http://www.msc.navy.mil/inventory/pics/shughart.jpg</a></p>

I here you Z. I work a rotating, 12 hour shift, so weekends/holidays are all arbitrary. At work right now! (0600-1800)

Quick subject change - noticed the army navy FB game last year and again this year is played in Philadelphia. Is this normal (neutral field)?

Correct. We played at the Meadowlands my 2/C year (we won), and aside from once or twice in the Meadowlands since then, all the games are played in Philly.

I had heard that they were looking to change the venue, simply because Veterans Stadium (appropriate name) is getting old. Don't know if anything ever came of that.

First of all its a Large MEDIUM SPEED Ro/Ro (LMSR) and without these bad boys, nothing else gets done.

Secondly, they tore down Veteran's Stadium two years ago and have been playing it in Lincoln Financial Field in Philly -- very cool new Stadium. Where have you been?

I know, but I figure I'd leave that for you to mention. :D

For the last three years?

Wandering aimlessly. You have no idea....

Okay, let's go another step on the football. Since it's played in Philly, does the academy "ship" (at least I didn't say boat!) mids up there or what? Sounds like we need to get tickets and hotel reservations a year or so in advance?

The entire Brigade of Midshipmen drives up as a unit aboard a whole slew of buses, and returns pretty much the same way. The same goes for the Dungeon on the Hudson.

As for hotels, yes, I would reserve now, because a WHOLE BUNCH of vets, active-duty, and family come to see the game.

It's awesome, especially when YOUR side WINS! :D:D

One more time Z - Dungeon on the Hudson?

Hey, my second "smilie"! :) WOO WHO!

Dungeon on the Hudson - A name I just made up for West Point.

Ever seen a picture of the place? All it needs is Bella Lugosi.

Sorry, I "caught on" just after posting :o

Back to the pictures...

I'd really like to know what the hell happened to that "convertible F-14." Did the RIO eject, and just not tell the pilot?

Whoa! I'd forgotten I had that one!

I honestly don't know what happened, but I can find out.

Here's the story!

In November 2002, while training in Nevada, VF-213, an F-14D squadron was tasked with giving a familiarization Flight to an officer from one of our Aegis Class Cruisers. Apparently this individuals shoulder straps were not properly adjusted. While pulling positive Gs he began to float out of the ejection seat. In order to readjust his position he reached down and grabbed that little yellow and black stripped handle. Bang! The next thing he knew he was no longer in the Tomcat. He landed with minor injuries, was rescued and the Tomcat was recovered safely at NAS Fallon.

That must have been one surprised SWO! :D

Here's the writeup from APPROACH magazine, which is an official Navy publication addressing aviation safety:

<a href="http://www.safetycenter.navy.mil/media/approach/issues/marapr04/pdf/IveLostMyRIO.pdf%5B/url%5D">www.safetycenter.navy.mil/media/approach/issues/marapr04/pdf/IveLostMyRIO.pdf</a></p>

Wow. That was a quite amusing read!:)

Zaphod- is that really you? totally blows what I invisioned! go figure! now, don't even think to ask me what that was- 'cause I ain't tellin!!!

ps- great pics!

That was me 12 years ago, and about 30 pounds lighter! ;)

You let yourself go after the Navy?! :(
