Some Transfer Chances, Perhaps? Yale, Harvard, Amherst, Stanford, Brown

I posted a similar thread last week but it dissapeared, presumably in the time warp.

Anways, I'm applying to transfer to Yale, Harvard, Amherst, and Stanford. Maybe Brown? And I would appreciate your comments.

College:

Sophomore at the University of Pennsylvania.
Philosophy/Middle east studies major.
3.93 GPA. (A few A-'s, no B's).
Benjamin Franklin Scholar (Penn's honors program).
Dean's list (2004 - 2005).

High School - Public School in CT, doesn't perform terribly well in college admissions (of the top 10, only 3 ivies - two students to penn, one to dartmouth).
6ish-th in a class of 220. GPA 4.36/4. Hardest courses available.
Awards for best student in English and Mathematics.

SAT I: 1580
SAT II: average 760 (writing, US history, literature. I understand, though, that SAT II's don't carry much weight in transfer admissions?)

EC's -

Director of local, student-run nonprofit. Very serious; 15 - 20 hours a week

Adult Computer Education instructor/coordinator.

Independent musician. I play guitar, bass, violin. I've been involved in the writing/recording of 5 albums of the indie/weird-stuff variety, went on a few regional tours, played maybe 70 shows? opened for some big names (for underground music). currently scoring an animated sequence.

Editor of high school literary magazine.

Varsity soccer, Varsity track and field.

Some other stuff that I can't remember.

Why transfer?

Better philosophy program - Penn's philosophy is very historically oriented; they only have a few people working in metaphysics and epistemology.

and

Looking for a more intellectual student body; penn is quite pre-professional.

and

I get bored of places quickly and like to move.

Thanks, friends.

bump......

Good chances.

Good chances!
Very nice work there, keep it up!!!! :D

please please please?

u realize, that if u keep this up, ur grad school options will be ridicuously high, why risk it to start over?

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "start over"; why would transferring be a "risk"?

Because you get to start building your GPA from scratch and the last 60 credits are the ones that matter most for grad school (unless you are premed and took the requirements as a freshman or sophomore).
Personally, I think that it might only be a problem if you try to go to MIT, Chicago, or Cornell, though. But who knows.

That's good to know, I wasn't aware of the gpa-erasing thing. But I'm not terribly worried; everywhere I've applied is guilty of rampant grade-inflation.

but law schools still count everything, but on a resume for example, most ppl only list the GPA at thier current school

nutella, you may be dec -- but i bet chu ain't grown a plant in the middle of your room with no water, sun, or dirt like me

i gots the tops

culture boy, i can't understand a word u speak, where ru from?

ok im not gonna apply anymore to those schools

Seems like a good reason lol. Why don't you spend a year abroad if you want a change of scenery? I'm willing to bet Penn offers study abroad options in the UK with good philosophy programs.

Idaho!!!!!!!!!!!!
