I have few questions:
First some information about me, I want to go to either UCLA, UC Berkeley, and UC San Diego. UCR is my back up. I want to finish CC in one year with the help of AP credits. I want to major in biochemistry. I have these AP credits: AP Human geo, AP world history, and AP Chinese. (I also have the units for ap bio and chem, but I want to retake them because Im interested in going to med schools where ap credits for science classes are not accepted.)
Now, the questions:
1. For IGETC requirement, can I use AP credits to satisfy the requirement? If the IGETC said 3 courses and 9 units, but I use 2 AP course credits which add up to around 10, does it satisfy the requirement?
2. Does the ap credit policy the same for all UCs? (just on IGETC)
3. Does UCLA require IGETC for biochem major?
3. In the major requirement, "genetics" and "intro to molecular bio" were not offered at a lot of CCs, would that affect my chance if I dont take them?
4. Do I have to finish GE requirement if I finish all the major requirements?

Yes you can use AP units for IGETC but if it says three courses, you need courses. Keep in mind units awarded on UC Website are quarter units. 1.5 quarter unit = 1 Semester Unit MAKE sure u are IGETC certified!! or else ur gona have to end up taking GE at UC

In terms of elective credit…yes. Some UC majors require you have 4’s or even 5’s to get credit to clear a prerequisite. Mostly 3’s will be acceptable.

No, UCLA does not require IGETC but IGETC is much easier to complete in my opinion than regular GE at UCLA. College of engineering does not accept IGETC…only Letters and science

Chances are other people would not have those coursework either…but if you can try to see if neighboring colleges offer them. If not, don’t worry about it. make sure you have major prep done for all available classes. Very important!

No you don’t but you’ll save a lot of money if you finish IGETC. Trust me, finish IGETC and get certified!

If you passed the AP exam, you should receive AP credits for them. In your application you will enter these credits where it will list how many units you are awarded for each credit.
