I think you have pretty good chances at most of them if you do well on the personal statement. Chances of succeeding at them though? I'm not sure.

now it's really up to your personality and major? do you want to do something in the sciences? are you a party girl? are you preppie? do you like ALOT of diversity? etc. etc.

Really push your community service and your job, because your other ec's aren't impressive for your school list; don't mention anything you're questionable about whether or not to mention. If your math SAT goes up some, I think you have a legitimate shot at any school on your list. Oh yeah, be very careful not to sound arrogant or self-righteous anywhere on your app, as adcoms have a sensitive detector for that, because you sort of come off that way in your post.

I really never meant to sound arrogant or self-righteous. Frustration with my parents/college counselor led me to joining CC in the first place, but I realize now that was immature and haughty of me to be frustrated by their alleged inadequacy at giving me "good" advice. Apologies to everyone who has read or commented on this thread and been frustrated by my flippancy (is that even a word??) or arrogance: I truly appreciate all of your help on this thread and elsewhere. I never expected the response I got from this thread and it means the world to me that any of you have taken enough time to help me out.

JO7 , I see you posted this on another thread:
elp me make my list (NOT A CHANCES THREAD)
I'm looking for schools with the following characteristics. If anybody could help, that would great!

at least a general focus on undergrads--I don't want to have a TA teaching every single one of my classes

a campus where most undergrads actually live on campus

somewhere in cali or anywhere on the east coast, or maybe near/around chicago

somewhere with a selectivity admissions rate of less than 50% (i know this doesn't determine if a school is good or not, but i'm looking for match schools here, not safeties)

somewhere people have at least sort of heard of...it would be nice not to have to answer the "wait? where? where IS that?!?" question a billion times

Those are kinda tough requirements but if anybody has any suggestions (besides Ivies) then that would be so so helpful!

Have you looked at Notre Dame?
My S is there now, and when the college search started we would have NEVER considered ND, if not for S's guidance counselor. ( I thought there were 30,000 students like Penn State LOL, and was I wrong. About 8,000, small enough to be intimate, large enough not to outgrow)
We are not Catholic, and GC, a ND alum, and once worked in ND admissions, assured us that "religion" would not be considered. S attended an all boys Catholic high school, and we knew he would like the atmosphere.

PM if you would like more information. I know a 1400 SAT hispanic boy who attended the "global issues" seminar this summer. This is a program designed for minority students; to get them on the beautiful campus, with the goal of increasing minority enrollement at ND.

Another VERY different suggestion: Univ of Miami.
You posted you are interested in International Business, you are bi-lingual, and may want to attend Law school. S's friend is there, for the same interests. He received one of the large 3/4 scholarships. He did not qualify for any financial aid, so your package may even be more impressive there.
I know you want more prestigious school, but this could be your "safety"
