Someone international that wants to apply to The University of California??
San Diego, Berkeley, San Francisco, Los Angeles, if so let me know, cause i need some help!! thanks!

The UCs you name are extremely hard to get into as an international. You can apply to all you name except USF, which is only for graduate school.

If you can get into the top UCs as an international, you can also get into ivy league schools. Several of the ivies are need blind for frinancfiaql aid to internationals whereas UCs offer almost no aid if you're not from California.

Why do you want these schools? They are good but not top.

Berkeley and LA are excellent, i would consider them "top"

Yeah They are like top for me, so why do you say its hard entering as international??

They take very few internationals, between 1 and 5 percent depending on the UC and offer almost no financial aid, so cost about $40,000 per year.

yeah thats all true......but that doesn't have anything to do with them being/not being "top"

I think UCB is 'top' 'TOP' and I think UCLA is 'top'.
I've heard of a lot of students on cc all disappointed about choosing UCLA (they've been complaining about admin, overcrowded classes, etc..).. probably because they were from prestigous private prep schools.. maybe the shift to public just got to them.

Oh and OP, I might apply to UCLA hehe

I'm an international at Berkeley engineering right now. Feel free to ask me any questions

What's you SAT score?

are you asking me?

yes phroz3n. i orinigally thought about applying for berkeley, but my sat score is too low.

My SAT is 2010... theres no way I'm getting into Berkeley with that score... but its worth a try! Phroz3n what was your SAT?

SATI: 2240
Math IIC: 800
Physics: 780
Chinese: 800

Is it really that impossible to get in for a international student?
Thats quite worrying for me, im from Uk moving to the states and im a A/B student.

Im applying to mostly UC's
ucla
uc irvine
uc san diego
uc sasnta cruz

and also USC and a community college for back up.

Does this sound bad?
I realise UCLA and San diego are hard schools.

Should i just stick to private schools?

No its not the question of private / state schools, lot of state schools are pretto ok with intels, eg. UMich, NYU. But UC is just a ***** to intels

Yeh but im only applying to california so it doesnt give me much choice
