I am applying to GWU regular decision, aerospace engineering major. I am from Rhode Island and if someone could chance me that would be awesome!!
GPA: 3.8/4 UW, 4.53/5 W
Class Rank: 15/426
SAT: not sending, they were horrible
SATII: chem 620, math 1 750, math 2 760
ACT: composite 27, English 32, reading 21 (filth I know), math 29, science 27, writing 10
Taking four AP classes this year, Calculus, English, Chem, and Physics

Extra curriculars: lots of them. I'm involved in statewide level bands and orchestras (I play piano and clarinet), math team, school band/chorus, jazz band, music has always been an essential force in my life

Essays: pretty good. My common app essay was about how music has taught me to be able to transfer the dedication I put into that to everything else, and to enjoy the "symphony of life" to the fullest. My "Why GWU?" essay, I mentioned the various music programs they have on top of a rigorous academic program, and I also talked about their diversity (I am a homosexual, and I talked about how diversity at a school like GWU is important to me)

Recs: amazing letters of recommendation

Also, is an interview required? I might see if they offer alumni interviews because GWU would be too far to go to just for an interview, should I try for an interview even if it's not required for admission? Thank you!!!!!

Oh and by the way my freshman and sophomore year sucked (3.68/4 UW and 4.33/5 W), but my junior year I had a 3.92/4 UW and 4.83/5 W and so far this year I’m at 4.0/4 UW and 4.93/5 W

I really think you’ll get into GW. Even if you don’t, you’ll still have so many other opportunities. Your stats are really impressive. Good luck, keep up the good work.

You should be pretty well off. They don’t do alumni interviews but they do have a travelling interviewing team (I was interviewed by a current senior in Atlanta) and while it doesn’t make a huge impact, it does show your interest in the school and that always helps. I don’t see why you would be denied or even weight-listed. My advice would be to apply for the engineering school at GW (pretty small, easier to get into) as you seem to be a math and science guy, and then transfer into a different major if that doesn’t work. If you need anything else feel free to contact me (ED1 Accept).

Just saw that you were going for engineering in the first place (duh), so really you should be really well off.

You seem to be on the right track. You have demonstrated interest and that’s what they like to see. Your ACT score was pretty good, but the reading score, as you stated, might throw them off. Why was it low compared to your high English and science scores? Your essays sound really great, I wanted to read them! It sounds like you’ve worked hard. I hope you get in! You’ve got a great chance!
