Any thoughts on this? I received an email today saying our fafsa had been changed and the efc was a dramatically lower amount. I called the college my D is going to and they said it was not them. On the fafsa it doesn't say who changed it, just the date it was changed (yesterday). We did receive a professional judgement from an accepted school in May and the amount was similar but she did not send in a deposit. Has anyone else come across this?

You can go in and look at your SAR and look at the numbers to see what changed. That may give you an idea whether it was based on the information you gave the other school. Though it does seem odd that they would change it so late.

Any chance the school she is going to will honor the new EFC?

My daughter had a professional judgement last year and the school went in and changed FASFA. This year we were verified and they changed a number in FAFSA - I did not actually agree with the change they made but it had no affect on our EFC so I did not argue with them.

my income was reduced significantly which means it was based on a professional judgement for high medical costs. The school she is attending said they already adjusted it in April. They were just as confused as to where the change came from.
