ok, so i have a couple of questions:
1. Are my parents encouraged to come?
2. How many students are going to be there?
3. When is it?..during moving in weekend (i dont want to have to drive all the way up to attend orientation, then drive back home, then drive back to move in a month later)?
4. What are we going to do specifically?

They have a special program for parents. They can go, but mine aren't because they heared it is a waste of time.

No idea how many people will be there but my guess is take the total number of freshmen and divide it by the 8 orientation sessions.

Orientation is in July. After you fill out your orientation data form they send u this big folder that tells you your orientation dates are.

I have no idea what we do at orienation since they send us our schedules before then.

They dont stay with the students most of the time. They like go to meetings and stuff where they learn about the school and how to parent a college freshmen.

hey, thanks angela. i was wondering..since theres nothing seriously important going on at orientation, would it be okay to just not attend it?
meeting people, exploring campus, etc and be done on opening weekend and ID cards can be made during that time too (i'm assuming). im only asking this b/c it would be a big pain in the ass to drive up to buffalo. :/

hmmm i have no idea how big a deal it would be if you missed orientation. I'd call and ask them to make sure. Make up a lie and tell them that you're going to europe for the entire summer and there is no way you can make any of the orientation sessions.

Nothing important happens at orientation. The only semi-important things that happen is you get your Buffalo ID card and Buffalo e-mail address, that's it. Everything else is just an introduction and location helper which you'll have plenty of time to do when you move into school cause freshmen move in Thursday and don't have class till Monday. Believe me, you'll have plenty of time to get to know the campus, I remember those were 4 long boring days of absolutely nothing but getting use to campus. Everyone mostly just hung out in their rooms.
