Okay, I know this has been asked PLENTY of times, but its ****ing me off and I want to know the truth...how are they sending out decisions? It seems like a lot of CCer's have heard both yesterday and today...does anyone know of someone that got a rejection letter yet? Are they only sending out Acceptances? HOW DOES THIS WORK? NYU Won't Give A Straight Answer!

Really, don't worry. If people are receiving acceptance letters (on this board), you probably won't even know. People tend to refrain from sharing information like that, that they've been rejected.

If they're doing this regionally, I can tell you by the end of the day. A friend from my school applied to NYU also, so if she receives news today, then it's most likely done in some demographical mannerism.

I don't think its demographical because people have heard from NYC, NJ, and other places....and Im in NY so Im thinking its either done randomly in batches or acceptances first/rejections last

Parikhs...i totally agree with you! I called NYU and they said all the decision letters have not been sent out and that letters will be going out from now until the 31st. They also claim that all the GSP letters havent been sent out, which is odd because some CC kids say there is an orientation on the 19th. But the message of the month on the NYU admission page says that everyone should know by the end of this week. I really hope they arent sending acceptance out first because that makes me really nervous that each day i'm not gettin a letter. Its so frustrating...every other school says Dec. 15th definitly. NYU is so wishywashy

NYU is really sketchy...they don't give a straightforward answer :(

I just talked to my sister and she said when you call they ask you for your name...and that they actually look it up and see if you got in or not and based on that they'll tell you "You should be hearing between 15th and 31st" or "you should be hearing soon"...but idk how true that is...she's basing it on an NYU graduate school perspective. Did anyone who call get asked for their name?

Yeah, I called today and they said most everyone should know by tomorrow (Thurs), and then I called again and they said you should be hearing soon and that the letters were sent Friday and Monday. GAH!

parikhs, that sounds pretty logical. I bet that's how they do it.I read on the NYU 2009 board that rejections do come later, that is why they keep saying they could arrive until Jan 1st. I bet only rejections are recieved on Jan 1st. I am as nervous as you are....It is impossible to decide to stop thinking about it. But let's start to worry when the week is over and we still have no news...it's not even Dec 15 yet....breathe

Chill out people, everyone will know wayyy before Jan 1st.

wow, i haven't gotten my letter yet but i'm glad to know that i'm not the only neurotic one out there.

No drama queen, you're not! I've been smoking like crazy this week, staking out my mailbox everyday, what a sad story that will turn out to be if i'm rejected......

People don't sit around and just wait for NYU. I was planning on doing the same thing, but its not a smart idea. I am fortunate that I was accepted, but this is not a perfect world so some of us will get rejected. There are ton of applications and supplements to complete and the deadlines are soon approaching. Concentrate on your other schools while you wait and have a back up plan ready, otherwise you will find yourself lost. good luck. Maybe something today!

nachontondi, I am with you. I have been doing those same two things: the former for the past two months since sending my app and the latter for the past two weeks. I have already completed all of my other apps, and they are ready to be sent off...I just want to hear from NYU first so I don't have to lose $60 on application fees. Good Luck!

Has anyone called NYU and gotten a definite answer?

if you guys really want to know, just like call up the financial aid department and say you lost your financial aid package, and need to know the amount/have it resent.

if they dont know who you are, you're rejected.

Mattistotle: That may or may not work, but it would only be for people who applied for financial aid. If you never applied for aid, that office will never know who you are anyway. Also, they might not give some of that info out over the phone, since this is pretty personal information.

it worked fairly well last year when people did it.

I called, their exact words, after giving them my SS# and name was "You should have it by tomorrow or Saturday".... she said that they were sent out in two batches with no correlation as to admission or not...
