<p>Yeah.. my counselor came to my class today asking if it was ok for her to send Columbia my grades (we don't grade by quarters or trimesters, so she would send the first two terms). i agreed, of course, but i'd like to know if this means anything. She told me that this might be a sign of good news, but i don't want to get excited :/</p>
<p>in this case it is recommended that if you have some first quarter or midterm grades to provide them as part of the application for ED so this is not highly out of the ordinary - but the fact that they ask them from you with about 2 weeks before decision day. but to speculate slightly - it may mean that they think having this new information at this point might help them come to a final decision. but that means things could go anywhere from here… </p>

<p>do colleges use first quarter grades to validate GPA or to see if student has improved?
i’ve read somewhere that some colleges defer students because they want to wait for midyear reports so they can make sure the student is doing well</p>
