Someone help me choose a good dorm?

Hi! I've never visited the UF campus and I don't know anyone studying there(I'm from Europe) so I have no idea on what to choose. I've stayed in dorms before so I know what I like. If someone could point out a good match for me I'd be really thankful!

-Preferences-:
*Not too many people per room (max. 5) (are there any dorms that offers single bedrooms with a "common room" for 3-4 other people?)
*Not overly noisy at night (I'm a light sleeper)
*Personal bathrooms
*Not too far away from main parts of campus(15 min walk /5 min drive)
*Dorm building isn't rundown (I'm allergic to dust)
*Dorm room isn't cramped so that I can invite people over
*Has a study room of some sort (?)
*Doesn't have to be "the most social" dorm but shouldn't be anti-social either

I'll appreciate all help!

You pretty much described Beaty. I would’ve said lakeside but that’s far from the main part of campus

Thanks! Do you know anywhere I can find any pictures of Beaty? Both inside and outside? Also how does Beaty compare to the Honor dorm?

There are videos of Beaty on the uf housing YouTube page! Check it out. I’m hoping to stay at Beaty as well. I’m graduating hs with my AA so technically class of '15 but I won’t mind being with freshmen

As a person living in Beaty, I think you should know some things that I experienced during my time there:

Floor was very anti-social, no one really knew each other :(

It would get rowdy a lot cause the walls in Beaty were particularly thin

Bedrooms were kinda cramped, but the kitchen is nice

For your dust allergy, watch out cause the bedroom has carpet which collects a lot of dust

Personal bathroom is nice, but annoying when having to wait for it

Kitchen and fridge is a plus

Bathroom was kinda run down, at least in my room

Between Beaty and the Honors dorms they are both pretty far from campus. I personally like being close to campus as it is SUPER CONVENIENT but that’s just me. Hope you found this helpful! Any questions, let me know :)

If your are an international student, I would suggest Weaver in the Tolbert Area. Tolbert Area is a great location (right by the stadium) and Weaver Hall is specifically geared towards international students. I see them having BBQ outside all the time haha

If you look on Youtube they have a video for Luxury dorms. They are located right near campus…you get two people per room and the rooms have nice, clean, personal bathrooms. These dorm rooms look huge compared to most! They give you a mini tour! It is said to be nicer, closer to campus, but CHEAPER than traditional dorms. Im not native to Florida so Im not sure about them. They say they have a big gourmet kitchen and a living room for UF socializing plus a cafe and jacuzzi tubs in the Ivy House and cable with 72 channels, but check it out=)…heres the link… [Luxury Dorms in Gainesville - The BEST Dorms for UF Students - YouTube](<a href=“- YouTube”>- YouTube)

avoid the “luxury” dorms… I’m warning you.

Yeah they aren’t that great, might as well live on campus

why avoid luxury dorms?

They aren’t actually run or owned by UF. They are dorm-style apartments that are off-campus.
