Someone Help Me Set Up my Router

OKay,

so I got myself a router because I wanted a wireless connection in my room. I ran into a little trouble because I don't know what type of connection I have. Is it a dynamic IP or a static/cable IP connection? And if it is the latter, what are the subnet mask, IP, and gateway number/addresses?

Has anyone else had success in setting up a router in their nyu dorm rooms?

thank you

The wireless police could come after you:

I heard so many people say that they’ve had a router for all four years and that nyu can’t really do anything. They don’t try to stop you either. When I open up my network there are like tens of other wireless connections that I can see. Frankly, I’m not that worried.

Yeah, I really wouldn’t worry about resnet. My suite has a router, so do like the suites next to us and the rooms my friends are in. That said I can’t help you with the technical details, the router should have come with instructions on setting it up (and if one of my suitemates could do it, so could you! lol).

Almost everyone I know has wireless. All wireless routers should come with directions.
