This person I know was accepted into UCLA and Cornell and instead of picking one in April before the May 1st deadline, she decided to say yes to both schools. now she wants to pick UCLA over Cornell I think because they gave her a full ride… what can she do? Can she drop Cornell?

Haha you are probably screwed. I think it is obvious this someone is you. You did a stupid thing. Did your GC or parents condone this? Because if they did, they are totally ignorant. I guess you should choose one now, b/c if they find out you di this there is a chance you could get screwed out of acceptance to either of the schools. They HATE this, and you will probably end up paying money to the school you didn't choose just b/c you said you would go there. Why, WHY did you do this?

Umm, drummerdude, apparently hes going to Princeton......

kings going to princeton judging from her location?

haha bigdude
we posted at the same time

drummerdude, I was accepted by UCLA and Cornell but I'm going to Pton. haha its funny that you thought it was me. Deciding between Pton and Yale was pretty simple after visiting both. HAHA you thought it was me!!!!!!

Don't worry about it!!! Just take care of it ASAP so they can offer your spot to a person on the waiting list. I did this - nothing happens, you just lose your security deposit. You call the office of undergrad admissions, and say that your plans and career goals have changed, and thus you are no longer able to attend. Don't specify that you chose another school over them. Do not sign anything, or agree to pay for a semester. During the phone call, say that they will also be receiving a written version of this statement, and send a letter as well saying you won't be attending as your plans have changed. This should be fine. Just do it ASAP.

again, this is not me but i will tell my friend what you said

SORRY King, I just REALLY thought it sounded like it was you. Then I read under your name and it said you were going to Princeton, so I was like "o crap, it really isn't him" then I edited it to be less harsh, but it didn't change it. Sorry.

Just out of curiosity King, what made the decision of Pton over Yale so easy?

While I don't really condone this, I think that the school he decides not to attend will just assume he got in off of another school's waiting list.

The important question is: were you drunk at the time you made this decision?

no offense to your friend, but that was really really dumb. your friend will be lucky if they get to attend either school at this point, b/c that simply is NOT how the college admissions process works. just like you can't apply to more than one school ED w/o getting in trouble w/ the schools, you can't pretend to enroll in more than one either.

Actually, I know someone who applied to two schools ED and hes fine....soo far, but lets not bring that bit up again cuz ppl didn't even believe me last time. hah.
