Someone motivate because...

I want to drop out of college, even though I am doing well. My reason is because (I know I'm young, I'm 19) I don't think I will find a major or a job that I like and can make money at the same time. Also, is it true that most jobs that make good money are in science? By the way, I'm asking because I want to know if what people say is true. Anyway, even though college is a time to explore and grow as a person I think that college is going to be a waste of time because I won't find a job in the end.

If you want to do science in college, stay away from chemistry and biology.

There’s is good money in science if you have a PhD or a medical degree. Bachelor degrees in biology and chemistry do not give you great options. Do you like science? Engineering has pretty good job prospects.

you could become a teacher… it lets you major in the field that interests you most and it gets you good pay/respect. you could study business. there is not a lot of science involved in that. or if you’re really unsure then maybe stay in college an extra year (take a bunch of intro courses) and find out what you really like best, and major in that.

just don’t drop out…

What kind of teacher, high school or professor? I’m not saying I’m not good at science. I’m saying whatever I end up majoring in, I will not get a job for it. Even if I majored in engineering or history I’m not going to get a job.

Hang in there! College is partly about finding a job, but it’s also about finding out how to think and solve problems and build a future.

why won’t you get a job? if you major in history you could easily become a high school history teacher, if you want to. you don’t need any advanced chem courses for that. major in what you want and work hard, and you will get a job!

It’s because I feel that employers hire whoever they like. The reason I might think this is because I have a pessimistic view of reality. Let’s not get into why I have this view. So, even if someone has really good credentials they will not be hired because the employer didn’t like their or something which makes me feel like all those years of schooling and money was a waste.

Well, if you have that kind of defeatist attitude, I wouldn’t hire you either. So, get up, learn and live. Stop digging your own grave.

Yeah, once I think about it you’re right. Thanks, lol.
