THIS SUMMER'S ACTIVITIES:
I am interning at the Electrical Engineering Department at UCSB this summer with a professor who is well known in the Semiconductor Device field. Working with to apply Gallium Nitride (a semiconductor) into solar cells.

I am also trying to intern with a UC Santa Barbara economics professor as well. Collecting data on change of income over time for individuals and economic data from many countries around the globe.

Long list, but I hope you guys can read all of it and give me feedback!

sorry abotu the caltech thing, I was copying and pasting a chance me thread from there

lol… yeah you’re in dont even trip

UCB would have to search for a reason not to admit you. You’ll looking good on all fronts, all cylinders firing. Just keep the focus on senior year and write some banup essays.

You probably can even get into the Ivy League with this, don’t worry about it.

bump 10 char

Everything looks good, you’ll prob get in.
Just make sure to write good essays and I think you’re set.

Your stats are way better than mine, lets just say that. All that leaves is the essays, so don’t slack on those.

Yeah. Your stats look amazing! However, if I had any advice to give I would say relax. A great deal of this is up to chance and who happens to review your file. So weird things can definitely happen. But I truly believe if you work hard - and it looks like you do - then you will choose the college that is perfect for you when the time comes to choose. Just make sure you wait until that time comes. Avoid the mistakes I made. Don’t read these forums before decisions and don’t “chance” yourself. Admissions officers are already looking at you like your a show cow at the state fair. Why double the humiliation?

You’re in on stats alone. But like str8shot said, strange things can happen, especially depending on who reads your app. So focus on the essays and specifically, try to not make it sound like all you did was study in high school. Colleges don’t want robots - they want people. Relax during this stressful time (trust me, it will get stressful). I’m glad you’re not taking all APs this year…

You have way better stats than I did and I got in, so just write amazing essays, which I suppose could be hard if you’re into math and not English, but it doesn’t look like it will be a problem for you.
I suppose the only thing that’s working against you is Cal’s new admissions policy about letting in less Asians, but your stats are good enough that I wouldn’t worry.

first and foremost, FU for winning the capital market competition. So I guess you are from Dos Pueblos as well (i know a few seniors that graduated this year. you guys are too awesome. >.<). ^.^

Other than the fact that you are Chinese, this is a very competitive list. You won’t have much problem with Cal. But with regards to CalTech (cough MIT is better), that really boils down to your essay and teacher req. Also, did you take AMC 12 and AIME? Since Caltech does look into that (it has a special box just for that!).

Good luck at FIRST next year. Don’t lose the first play spot!

-Ben

Did you seriously have to ask? I don’t see how Cal could reject you. Thanks for making my stats look absolutely pitiful.
I got accepted with:
-a total of 3 AP classes and no college classes
-18 hours of community service
-a 600 on my critical reading section of my SAT
There is absolutely no way that Cal could take a person like me and not take you. Congratulations on all your achievements.

lol i got a 1790 on my sat and still got in to berkeley. they probably picked my name out of a hat hahaha

Stellar!! See you net year! Just make your essays interesting! My SATS were sad but my essays must have got me in, can’t wait!

Wow late reply thanks guys.

haha I think I recognize who you are Hunterbender (cough* Ben Z.)

I love Dos Pueblos!!

When I read your transcript and saw Advanced Engineering Physics I knew you went to Dos Pueblos Engineering >_>

holy moly! a 4.92/5.00?
at my school our valectorian is 4.2/5.0
We’re an IB school though, if that makes any difference at all, so we can’t take weighted classes freshmen or sophomore year, and we have limit as to what we can take.

and your SAT scores are not bad.
but seriously, you could probably get in anywhere with those stats. and you seem like a well rounded person .
