Hi,I'm currently studying in De Anza College (quarter system) planning to transfer to a UC (UCSB probably) in Fall 2016.

I started in Spring 2014.

If I want to get in by Fall 2016,do I only have these quarters to study?

Spring 2014,Summer 2014,Fall 2014,Winter 2015,Spring 2015,Summer 2015,Fall 2015..

Spring 2015 too. You will list the classes you take that quarter as planned.

Spring 2016, sorry

Hi, I’m also from De Anza and I’m transferring this fall.

If you want to transfer out by Fall 2016, you should complete the required coursework by the end of Spring 2016.
That means other than those terms you listed above, you still have Winter 2016 and Spring 2016.

Some UCs also accept coursework done in Summer 2016, but you should meet the minimum requirement(90+ quarter unit, 2 EWRTs, 1 MATH…etc) by the end of Spring 2016.

Assuming I want to enter for Fall 2016,when do I actually submit my applications? Is it after Spring 2016?

You apply Fall 2015.

You can also take classes in summer 2016, but don’t expect it to affect your admission decisions. Basically, if you have 60 semester units (90 quarter units) and want more prior to attending a UC, go for it. You’ll need 180 quarter units to graduate at a UC, so any extra units helps.

I should mention 70 semester units (105 quarter units) is the max prior to transferring so, if you’re at 65, I wouldn’t take more than 2 classes during the summer unless it’s a prereq for your major.

I’d say take the 12 units to get full time status. Better for financial aid and on your transcript
