I was accepted RD and i’m planning to go. But no clue what Providence is like (ADOCH will prob help) Tell me everything you know!

It has a good mall. Thayer street has some cute shops/restaurants. Brown's on a hill. There's a canal that sometimes has fires lit in it. The Providence police like giving parking tickets.

That's all I know.

Providence is very walkable. For instance, Brown is about a 15 minute walk away from the mall.

From their admissions site:
http://www.brown.edu/Administration/Admission/studentlife/providence.html

I live just outside New York City, which makes me somewhat of a city snob, but I really like Providence.

any more thoughts on providence, besides the fact that i LOVE the accent

There's an accent? Cool!

You mean like a boston accent?

RI definitely has it's own accent--similar to the Boston accent, but distinctive. There's also the obligatory RI vocabulary...

"bubbla" = water fountain
"no suh!" = how surprising!
"cabinit" = milkshake
"grinda" = submarine sandwich
"wickit" = really/extremely
"ko-hog" = quohog (indigenous RI shellfish that is used to make everything)

also, "Greenwich, Kingstown, and Warwick" are all pronounced without the "w"

the rest of the list
http://www.ri.net/schools/Pawtucket/Tolman/ODonnell/Alyssaweb/japan.html

Interesting you gave this list, and then cited something from Pawtucket (a neighboring city to Providence).

How do the natives pronounce Pawtucket? "puh-TACK-it."

Providence has many fine restaurants (bring your parents and their credit cards), probably in part because of the Johnson & Wales culinary school but also just by tradition, and many of them are just down College Hill from Brown.

Providence has become much more pleasant in recent years, certainly provides a change of pace to being on campus and some lovely old homes up the hill near campus too. Boston is a convenient day trip--offering all you might want from a City. You wouldn't choose Brown because of Providence, but it's not a drawback to going to school there. Some good spots on the RI coast including Newport are also accessible.

we say bubbler in boston.

Really? Bubbler? Shoot me if I ever say "bubbler."

I think it's just 40 minutes away from Boston.

take me with you rabo hahaha

u guys are on pretty late arnt ya? bubbler? for water? sheesh, ima stick to my Jersey "Wah-der"
