Something about Lionel? Experienced Harvard students please help ;D

Hi, everyone. I've just found out that I'm in Lionel for my upcoming freshman year! I wasn't expecting it at ALL, but from my searching on the internet, I couldn't find much information, other than the fact that it's small (it holds 70, i think?) and homey, and that it's a party place.

But where better to hear from than from people who've experienced it? Could anyone provide any insight into how the dorm looks inside, what's the experience like, if it's really a party place, and what kind of "tradition" things are there. Is it similar to Matthews inside? Or more closer to the newer Apley Court?

Thanks!!!

This might help?

^ Thanks! I already looked through that, though. ;D

Hey there! I’ll be living in Mower (Lionel’s twin) this upcoming year, but I stayed in Lionel during prefrosh weekend and loved it. It was a cozy triple, and each girl had her own room within the suite, I believe. The bathroom was generously sized for a college setting, but I’m planning on bringing some kind of little cart to provide more storage space. I remember Lionel being a nice and peaceful break from hopping Harvard Yard. Really cute and quaint. I’d love to know more about these lovely little dorms, too.

Hey irishisis! I’m guessing Mower and Lionel are pretty much the same ;D. I stayed in Matthews, which is a lot of bricks. Is Lionel brick-walled, or does it have a carpet with the standard walls? And (sorry for the many questions!), about how big is the suite? I have three other roommates sharing three bedrooms, so I’m guessing one of the bedrooms have two beds or are bunk beds or something. ;D

lionel=not that big. not that cool. some people didn’t even know it was a dorm until christmas. is that the one right behind stoughton or hollis? i lived in stoughton and i don’t even know.

Thanks, token (for your honesty and for the info ;D ). I’m fine with the dorm itself not being big, but how about the rooms? I have three other roommates, and I was wondering if there would be plenty enough room, or at least about how big the rooms are ;D. I stayed in matthews for prefrosh, so I guess I’m sort of imagining Matthews in my head right now.

Hm, back here to revive this thread with one more question. I found this ‘tour a dorm’ thing on the Harvard website and I saw that Mower had a closet where I would need hangers. Becaues Mower is Lionel’s twin, I’m assuming that Lionel has a closet like Mower’s? I don’t want to buy unneccessary things and take up valuable space =D! Thanks!

Woah I searched about lionel on google and I find this. I’m in Lionel next year too. I kinda assumed every dorm would have a closet so I got hangers and stuff

And if anyone knows, does Lionel have three floors? My room is thirty something - so I hope I’m not living in the attic…

Sorry I haven’t posted in forever!

Silver: From what I remember, the walls were the typical white type, and the floors were hardwood.

Escrimeur: Lionel does have three floors. I stayed in a third floor suite, and it wasn’t the attic. It was nice and had a pretty landing with a window. Hope that helps!

thanks irishisis! does lionel have closets or dressers?

Each student gets his or her own dresser. # of closets per room depends on the dorm. It is possible that you’ll be sharing closet space.
