Something About The SAT To Think About

So your score is based on a curve...correct?

Well that curve is based on how many people take the test....correct?

So if you take the SAT on a date where most people WON'T take it (say the Dec. one), then the same amount correct/amount wrong/amount omit for say May or June (where almost everybody takes it) the score would be higher....correct?

I might be totally wrong.

First question: yes.

Next questions: no. The curve only reflects the (slightly varying) difficulty of the test, not the number of people taking the test on that date.

So, no, not totally wrong, just 66.7% wrong :)

Haha… yeah. And even if you DO get super lucky and happen to take the test on an easy curve date, thus getting a higher score than you deserve/expect, I don’t think it’ll make a difference to adcoms. I mean, I don’t think colleges go through and calculate curves and then skew people’s SAT dates based on when they took it or anything…
