Something good to read?

I have just finished all of my summer work and am going to Chicago for a few days to look at schools. Can anyone recommend something really good to read, something I cannot put down?

I just finished Andromeda Strain, that was pretty good.

Roots, by Alex Haley.

Anything by Kurt Vonnegut. Seriously. He's amazing.

I think I watched the movie about that.... It was decent. Watchable, but not that entertaining.

Ender's Game, by Orson Scott Card. Fascinating book.

Ragtime, by E.L. Doctorow.

The Kite Runner, World War Z, and Twilight? lol

The Catcher in the Rye and The Ugly American.

^agreed. The Catcher in the Rye is an awesome book.

What genre of books do you enjoy?

science fiction

not gonna lie, i loved star wars books.

Try The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams if you haven't already. Very funny Sci-Fi.

i've heard Maximum Ride is an awesome series. i need to pick it up sometime. it's by James Patterson, if you're interested
looking for alaska by john green, my sister's keeper/the tenth circle by jodi picoult, the millionaires by brad meltzer, always & forever (forgot author actually but it's a classic two-book story about a girl called melissa coming down with leukemia, set in the 80s. the writing's very simple, which is strange because lately it's all about description but this one actually describes better due to the lack of it), and cage of stars (too lazy to check the author LOL)

:)

another "lolz good bookz" thread.

you may want to try some other previously done threads, but here's one I'll recommend off the bat:

Pokemon: Island of the Giant pokemon (Amazon.com: Island of the Giant Pokemon (Pokemon Chapter Book #2): Tracey West: Books)

I promise you won't be able to put it down.

Read books/essays by David Sedaris. He's absolutely hilarious! He writes about little things that happened in his life and makes them hard to put down. (But his works contains some cussing words and he is also gay, if you are OK with those things.)

The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon
and for a great short read
"Ah, Sweet Mysteries of Life, Stories" Roald Dahl

the time travelers wife

Welcome to the Monkey House by Vonnegut
or
any book of the Enderverse by Card.

Brave New World or 1984. Just read both and loved them
