something I found interesting

while deciding whether to apply to Stanford SCEA or not, I found this on their website:

Is there an advantage to applying early?
Although our admit rate for Single-Choice Early Action is slightly higher than our overall admit rate (20% vs. 12% in 2005), that does not represent a significant advantage over Regular Decision. Our early pool of applicants is a very strong group and the admit rate is a reflection of that strength, not of any preference on our part to admit students earlier. We remain committed to reserving the majority of our offers of admission for the Regular Decision cycle.

it seems like SCEA does not really help all that much in the admittance % and they even hint at the fact that the reason WHY the percent admitted is higher is bc of the stronger applicants in general, so am I wrong if I say that if you CANNOT IMPROVE YOUR APP in any way you should apply SCEA, otherwise if you can STILL IMPROVE you should apply regular?

I am not doing ED for this exact reason. Very few schools even care, I really do NOT want to bind myself to the school, and I would rather bang out all my applications at once...not now. SCEA is obviously not ED though and it might relieve some stress for you to apply. Just don't do it for the advantage. It won't give you one.

I agree; don't try to overanalyze it and figure out how much of an advantage or disadvantage you'll have. If it's your #1 choice and it would make you feel better to know early, do it.

i totally agree with words above!
i like STANFORD,so i apply early.

Stanford is my first choice. Still, I am applying RD so I can show them another semester of rising grades.
