something went horribly wrong

i didn't get a decision email. i'm guessing that they got a wrong email address maybe misread my writing. i did paper app. So i never got contacted for an interview. i'm guessing that i got rejected b/c since they should have contacted me by email for an interview and since it was the wrong address there was no response. so they would have thought that i didn't have interest.

Call them first thing tomorrow.

Definitely call the admissions office first thing tomorrow.

I wish you the absolute best of luck, and try not to look too far into it yet.

Have you ever gotten anything from them, such as an ID number after part 1 of the app so you could check on your status (what forms they got, what was still missing...etc.)?

I wouldn't worry too much about the interview, I wasn't contacted about one and I was accepted.

Hope everything works out!!!!

thnx well i never got a confirmation email so i called and they gave me my id number. right now i'm just testing all the possible misreads of my email address. currently out of like 20 something i got all of them back meaning that they don't exist except for three which i'm waiting for a return mail.

they said they had all the things. i checked the online status and they had everything

well then you'll just get your decision in the mail. i'm sure its just a glitch.

thnx for the response. yeh i called and they said it'll be in the mail. i just wish that guy would have told me so i could sleep properly. anyways wish me luck.

Phew, so happy it worked out!

Isn't is so cruel that you don't know your decision yet though?

...however, snow today! :)

miracle:

Listing of the regional admission officers. maybe you can call or e-mail them directly

good luck

DESERTSEA, thanks! Congratulations to you, too! In one of your posts I noticed you mentioned that one of your dream vacation spots is Mongolia. I've been there -- went to Uulaan Bataar for the Nadim games. What a beautiful and strange land. Sleeping in a ger (yurt) was certainly a hoot. Have you been there or are you at the "hoping to" stage? If not, hope you like mutton -- because it certainly permeates everthing LOL but the breathtaking landscape more than compensates the senses. All the best of luck to you at CC. Hopefully we'll meet up somewhere along the way.

IMIRACLE99: I can't tell you how much I feel your frustration in not yet knowing your decision one way or the other. According to the Admissions website, worst case is, you'll be able to call on Monday (12/12) and request the Decision over the phone -- perhaps that will beat the snailmail on the way to you. I imagine Admissions' phones are ringing off the hooks today, so, it might be hard to find a sympathetic soul willing to give you the decision over the phone at this point. How about your GC? Often GC's can gain access to the information on behalf of their students. Try to get your GC to make the call for you today. My fingers are crossed for you!

(Off topic: One of the things I'm looking forward to in college is NOT being forced into a 10:45 A.M. lunch period. yippeeeeeee!!!)

sigh myfriend's in a similiar situation, she never heard back from columbia after submitting her applicaton. she's calling them ans sending another app in for RD

I'm sorry to say, but I'm 99% sure you didn't get in. They would have told you had you been accepted. One of my interviewers last year didn't get an email, tried calling, and they wouldn't tell him, and he was ultimately rejected ED.

The same thing happened to me as well. I did the online app though. I'm thinking that my email might've thought it was junk mail...

In either case, I plan to call at 9:01 on Monday morning. It'll be nice to know one way or the other.

thnx for the warning columbia2002. yep i checked the mail. i was deferred. oh well.

wow this was a scary post..i'm so happy you found out at least, and your application was looked at...god it would've sucked if it wasn't.

and um, phew!, when desertsea said "phew" i think s/he was just expressing relief, not talking to you. haha.

imiracle, whatever you do with your application, stick with columbia! don't lose faith... it's a great school, you know it. i'm wondering if you could write a letter to them supporting your candidacy. (consult some professionals first.)

Did they cash your check? If you applied on line did the transfer company, Apply Now, as I recall, charge your credit card. That is some evidence they got your application.

There is an online site to check the status of your app. Have you checked that?

Did you not get an email?

I called the next day because Apply Now was giving me a hard time about taking my credit card.

Do you think Apply Now screwed up?

They are one cagey company. They do not list their phone number. I had leave a message. You never get a real person.

Double check Apply Now. Shame on Columbia for using them. They are not terribly efficient in my harrowing experience.
