Somewhere else or am I good?

I applied to all my schools. I tried to do reach/pretty sure/safeties. I don't know if I should add a few more safety schools.

SAT CR 680 Math 630 Writing 650
SAT II Literature 770 Math 2 630
Average is 89.76 which should go up this semester.
H's and AP courses
I'm in the top 3rd of my class.

Some ECs but not a lot because my dad, sole parent, was terminally ill and died during high school (wrote about that in my essay). But there are some. I haven't worked because I don't have a car and live in a rural areas.

Great recs. All the teachers thought I did really well through the ordeal with my dad...never missed school even when up all night with him or at the hospital.

Anyway, my schools are Barnard, BU, BC, Fordham, NYU, Smith, Mt. Holyoke, Northeastern, Binghamton, SUNY Albany, SUNY Stonybrook, UMass-Amherst, Penn State and UMinn (they waived app)

I am an independent student who will be relying on student loans, grants, work study and a job. Any thoughts about chances to these schools and if I should be thinking about other schools here at the deadline?

Truly sorry about your dad, man, I have no idea how you deal with that. Anyways, what state are you from? And if you’re independent good luck with student loans, my parents won’t let me take out loans because they don’t want me going into debt. And that’s funny, I just got a book about a guy who put himself through UMASS by himself basically for free

i think you have a good list together so if you’ve applied to all of them i don’t think you should worry. the main reason to apply to more safeties is they might give you the best financial aid; if you have time and can get rid of the app fees, consider applying to a few more schools that are huge safeties and will give you a lot of money. i think as far as admission goes you’re ok but try applying to more colleges that will give you the best deal.

Thanks. I’m in New York and have been trying to look at schools that are heavy on fin aid but I don’t know if there are others I’ve overlooked.

In your situation, I’d say go to a SUNY. They’d probs have the best financial opportunities for you because you’re in state
