Son Accepted to Oneonta EA today!

Son accepted to his top choice today: Oneonta! Came in today's mail, regular size envelope.

congrats!!! i’m sure he’s really excited. waiting anxiously on new paltz :(

He applied to New Paltz too, nothing from them yet…

congrats! Best of luck.

congrats. My d was also accepted today. The thin envelope had us worried!!
she also applied to New Paltz, my understanding is that we will hear from them sometime after the middle of the month.

Congrats! Great school, as well as New Paltz!

Congrats! My daughter is a sophomore at Oneonta and absolutely loves it, if anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask.

Congrats to all!!!

NYdadSUNY, Congrats to your son. If it is OK with your son, could you please post his stats ? It is very helpful to other students in determining what schools are realistic. It is common to post GPA, SAT and EC’s. Thanks!

Now I’m excited to see the mail this afternoon! I’ll try not to hold it up to the light, or over a kettle.

We are still waiting to hear. So frustrating. Also waiting for EA for Cortland, New Paltz and Albany. I heard Oneonta and Cortland are suppose to send out their decisions by Dec 15th.
Maybe we will hear tomorrow??? Also interested in your sons Stats.

No results here either and we had the app in a couple of weeks before the deadline.

Mine hasn’t heard from Oneonta either, but my experience with older kid EA is that Oneonta sent them out in batches, and some kids were accepted in November, some in December but there wasn’t one date that all the acceptances went out on. i think older kid was accepted EA after Christmas. So don’t worry that not hearing means bad news!!!

No problem Fashion, his HS Average is 91 with mostly all honors classes but no AP classes. During his junior and senior year he took college classes offered by his HS and actually has about 15 college credits to transfer into Oneonta, which will save yours truly some $. His SATS were reasonable, not outstanding, with a 590 Math and 540 Reading for 1130. EC’s were mostly athletic related: Varsity Soccer and Baseball, Club Soccer, and some volunteer work helping physically challenged kids play sports and 2 work experiences / jobs. Hope this helps.

Thanks NYdad! That info is very helpful to me, I am actually very similar to your son academically, about the same GPA, no AP’s yet, I am on cross country. Still waiting for my PSAT score to arrive ,however, I do not expect to have better than average SAT score but at least now I have an idea where I should be for Oneonta. I will try to be in 1150 range. Good advice about taking college credits through the high school. I plan on taking 2 college level courses my senior year and one AP so that should give me 9 credits. Thanks again!

Hey Fashion, good luck and glad I could help. Just an FYI, we went with the college classes instead of AP because of AP having that one test in the end that decides your grade. The college classes are just as challenging and seen in just as good a light by admissions as AP, but the tests that determine your final grade are spread over the enter semester which my s finds preferable to the one compilation test in the end. Best of luck to you!!

The letter arrived! I was good and I left it there for my daughter to find and have her moment. I felt pretty positive about it because while it was a small envelope, it definitely wasn’t just one piece of paper. I was waiting on the car line to pick up my 4th grader when she called all excited. I’m so glad I let her have that experience.

While Oneonta was her safety school, we were feeling a little scared that perhaps she should have applied somewhere else…just in case, but all is good now. She really likes Oneonta and can picture herself going to school there. If all else fails, she has a spot at least.

Her stats are 540 CR and 650 M - 1190 total, ACT 27, (Science 31 & Math 30 so those are her strong points), her GPA is only about 87 but that’s not weighted, she’s taken many AP and Honors classes. Her EC’s are cheerleading (captain this year), tap and musical theater dance, and work, work, work. I feel that she’s been pretty tense about the entire application and choice process and this first acceptance will be a weight off her shoulders.

Hey Bella,

Congrats to your daughter! She has great stats and Oneonta as a safety school is pretty good! Best of luck with the remainder of letters.

congrats Bella!

My D just called to say she received an acceptance from Oneonta today (on L.I.), so they must be coming out
