Can you afford NYU? It will cost 75k a year and NYU is stringent on financial aid.

I know about the costs. It’s irrelevant to the question whether he can get in.

If he gets in and can’t afford to go it IS relevant.

Forgot to add Econ and government to the AP list.

Are you saying they make acceptance decisions based on if a kid can afford it?

He has a great chance of getting in.

@NTXDad No, not at all. NYU will gladly send you applications for Parent Plus loans and those delightful private loans.

Exactly! The question was about his chance of acceptance not attendance. Therefore, the finances are irrelevant to the question.

Thank you

Lots of APs he’s got there! I think your son has a great chance of getting into either Gallatin or Silver (I saw your post on the 2020 NYU ED1 thread earlier). His SAT1 is well in range and he also got the FA change, so that’s definitely a great sign! NYU loves the diversity theme and your son seems to fit that mold perfectly. Best of luck!!

@TomSrOfBoston @rdeng2614 , it really isn’t relevant at all. This is a Chance thread, mind you. Whether or not the family can afford the school is not your concern.

Any help that knowledgeable users can give is definitely of the OP’s concern, at least. Some people aren’t well-informed about the lack of financial aid, or merit aid, or whatever, at some schools. I would welcome the info if I was unknowingly gunning for a school I wouldn’t be able to afford.

It’s just precautionary. If OP can afford any school under the sun, fantastic! Then ignore the info.

@iywang What good is it if they get in and cannot afford it?

Also, this is a public forum and people can post whatever they want within the Terms and Conditions of CC.

@bodangles As you can rather clearly observe, the OP responded “I know about the costs. It’s irrelevant to the question whether he can get in” to the original commenter who brought up FA. Yet, for some reason, other commenters thought it fitting to continue to impress upon the OP that it was relevant. If the OP himself asserts that it is not his concern, no one is in a place to make it his concern.
