thanks for your input jsmom and star_s i will refer back to your posts especially when we sign up for housing. I suppose it is a toss up between the Towers A or Sutherland…We will check them out when we visit in March for the “Day for Admitted Students” event. I am sure we will buy football tickets for my son and if possible, tickets for basketball too. jsmom, what do you mean by being part of the “zoo” ? do you mean just the hecticness of the crowds at the games or something else ? just wondering :-)

The Oakland Zoo is what the students’ section is called. If you watch the basketball games on tv, it is where all the students sit (they ring the court) in their Zoo t-shirts.

oh that would be a fun time ! i only hope my son will be able to get tickets – i heard it is a tricky thing. something about earning points and then it becomes easier and easier to get tickets if you accumulate points ? sounds complicated.

The oakland zoo (cheering section) has an entry in wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oakland_Zoo_(cheering_section)

link problem. just go to wikipedia.org and search on Oakland Zoo (cheering section)

Basketball tickets: sounds complicated but once he starts the process, it will be simple. Football tickets: wait until you move in to the dorms. They were giving out free t-shirts for buying the season football tickets last year.

super- thanks for filling me in on this.

No need to worry. This school has every kind of person you could imagine, and most students here take academics seriously but also like to have fun. I’m sure he’ll find time to visit the museums once he gets used to everything. They’re free and very cool. It’s a nice thing to do with friends on a rainy day.

Congratulations on Pitt!

Thanks swissbeauty- he is really looking forward to going to Pitt. I am looking forward to having him broaden his scope and becoming more cultural !
