Son won't be going...got much better deal elsewhere

My son got the Chancellor's scholarship at Pitt and it is just too good to pass up (it pays for absolutely everything). He will be sad about Chicago because it was the school that really spoke to his heart and intellect, but the opportunity at Pitt is just simply too good.

Darn that Chicago! I wish they offered Full Rides.

Signing off the Chicago board now.

GOOD LUCK to everyone next year!!

Good luck and congratulations to your son!!! What an honor!

My son received bad financial aid packages from Georgetown, UChicago and Notre Dame. He received a full-ride merit scholarship from a LAC and a decent offer from our state’s nationally-known flagship university. The Profile isn’t kind to us, and even though we are considering appealing G’town’s offer (his dream school at one time), it probably won’t work.

Giving up the dream school is so hard. Even when it’s just a dream…I mean the reality could be totally different, but it is still giving something up.

I didn’t realize enough how difficult the financial thing was going to be and this economic downturn isnt helping.

What terrible timing for so many families!
