Sonoma State Marine Biology

Hi I was wondering if there is anyone who could tell me more about marine biology at Sonoma State. I know what classes I would be taking but I wanted to know if they offered other classes like diving and if there would be outdoor work. For example, at Monterey State if you major in marine biology you learn things such as deep water diving and doing experiments outside by the bay or in tide pools. I wanted to know if that was also something Sonoma State does too. Thanks!

Hi !! I applied as a neuroscience major. I got my acceptance (:
I’m considering Sonoma State since I visited this weekend. IS it better than SDSU ?

Congrats! I think sdsu is better in my opinion because it’s more advanced school and has a lot more to offer. I visited their campus and it was really nice if you like warm weather and being near the beach. I’m sure they are more of a party school than Sonoma too. I would research it since I’m probably not the most reliable source haha. But how was Sonoma? I still need to visit since I’m probably going to end up going there.

Depends on what your looking for. One thing Sonoma has going for it is a smaller feel. It’s in N Cal, which is different from So Cal. It probably makes sense to compare your intended major, as well as other majors you might consider. SDSU is certainly a more competitive admit.

If you’re looking for Marine Bio I also encourage you to check out Humboldt State: [Marine Sciences • Humboldt State University](Undergraduate Programs | Marine Sciences)
