Dartmouth had about a 800 increase.. and international applicant number hit record high... harvard a 15% increase.. princeton using common and online app = a big increase... does anyone know of any ivy having a decrase num of apps?

Yale, Penn, Cornell, Princeton and Columbia have yet to report.

ED apps were down at Dartmouth, but RD apps were up.

ED apps were flat at Cornell.

EA apps were down 3% at Yale, but RD apps may well rise, as at Dartmouth.

yeah.. this is kind of disheartening.... i remember for class of 07, harvard was soo hard to get in b/c they had non scea.... many people could apply to 4 - 5 schools ea, like mit caltech uchicago harvard etc... and in ontario, they took off 13th grade that year i heard.. so there is another increase in app number from canada....

but then again, i do remember that each school have regional admission officers, and they admit around the same number of applicants from each region each year.. what's really really surprising this year is that for princeton ed, only 1 girl i know (athlete) out of 19 applicants from British Columbia got into princeton ED. Harvard also admitted less people EA this year from BC... most years, around 3 - 4 people get into harvard and 3 - 4 into princeton early from BC.. what's up with international admissions this year :(

Don't be disheartened.

An increase in apps doesn't necessarily mean there's an increase in interesting people.

we were born in the Baby Boom period, remember?
no wonder that's hard to get in.
i will just wait for my rejection letter.
i am immuned to tears already

I think it's safe to say that 99% of the applicant pool needs to at least prepare to be immune to tears about Harvard.

Joey

i'd think so. since most applying to harvard will get rejected.

yale experienced a drop in applicants though. (refering back to the original post)

yale did? wow

A massive, gigantic drop in applicants that will dramatically increase your chances.

Let's get realistic here. Yale's drop in applicants about 1.2%. Hell, that means nothing.
