Soon to be high school hraduate: questions about college

Hi all, young and old. :) I am currently a senior residing in the tri-state area. I'm preparing to apply for colleges, however I have a few questions before I begin my process. I'm preparing a recommendation worksheet to pass along to my professors and guidance counselors.

My question is: what's the difference between community activities and community service?
I understand the concept of service well. I do not, on the other hand, understand activities. Does this mean church and so on?

As for my second question, college applications requires me to fill out information about my parents. My mother is my only parent and she is unemployed at the moment. For employer/occupation, what exactly do I put?

Thanks,
cheers and good luck to all of the seniors applying to colleges.

It’s probably stuff you do in the community, kind of like school clubs but outside of school.

They don’t have a box for “unemployed?”

@honestysux: Ah, okay. So it is activities such as church- thank you.

Also- I am applying to USciences. The box is empty and there are no registered or default answers to check. I have to fill in the blank. So do I fill in “unemployed?” I am going to be the first person in my family going to college, so all of this is really confusing.
