Sooo... I'm interested.

I am thinking of applying here.

Perplexing.

But on a more serious note, I have some questions.

Well, I visited Harvey Mudd, and I must say, I liked what I saw. However, I don’t want to get my hopes up, and would like some input if I “stand a chance.” My interviewer told me I was “competitive” but I am not sure if he was just sugarcoating his words (My interviewer was an alumus from my high school, I infer that HMC does this on purpose? Or was this just a freak chance, haha. Anyhow, here’s my stuff.

About how many hours of sleep a night could I expect to have during the school year?

Thanks for your time!

I had similar stats. I'd say you have a good chance. Probably 60% or so. If you write a good essay I think you'll be in.

I think you have a great chance. Your community service is lacking a bit, so you might want to volunteer a bit more this year.

I don't know what the Cal-O league is, but unless it's very important to you, I wouldn't mention CS in the application. Just my opinion. :)

what's a good time of the year to visit harvey mudd?

I think during the school year, at a time when there are not midterms or finals. I'd say mid september to early december, and early february to early april.

themutt22,
i think you have a fairly decent chance at hmc. i only skimmed over your stats but what i saw looked pretty good. hmc is a very unique and interesting place; i'm glad your enthused about it as well.

(they may have set up your interview that way... just to make it interesting)

Hey guys, I want to say thanks for all your help. But can someone tell me about ED application? like, if you apply ED and are not admitted, are you put into the RD pool? Thanks.

Hey there,
If you apply ED and you do not get in, you do not get put in the RD pool. Sorry.

HMC has no deferral?

Supposedly, if you don't get in ED, HMC knows your chances are extremely low for RD so they normally don't re-evaluate you. They give ED applicants a slight edge for being excited about Mudd. If you can't get in with that, RD would potentially be nearly impossible (unless there was a shortage of RD applicants... an unlikely case.)

Are you talking about entrance deferral? (taking a year off) They allow for entrance deferrals.

Again, I am just going off what I was told 1.5 years ago. If you know how waveforms can be get some slew over time with fourier transforms... imagine the degradation of information in my head!
