I'm tired of having to do all this **** to impress colleges. It SUCKS ASS. But, I'll continue anwyays, cause I care too much about it. Ugh ugh ugh. I have never felt this strongly about this before. I hate it.

You can always apply to safeties and just blow off the need to impress adcoms-some lower-level state universities would just be happy with a good student.

Hey, I was thinking about this as well.

-People stay up in the morning, if they don't pull an all-nighter. Why would they sacrifice health for homework?
-To do well on the test / quiz / project in the morning. Why would they care about it so much?
-To earn a good grade in the class. Why would students persevere to earn good grades?
-So their transcript will look brilliant. What is the purpose of having an all-A transcript?
-To impress the colleges.

And that's what it all comes down to.

Everything I do in high school is to impress colleges to get a good job to get rich.

Damn it.

artic monkey, you're doing it all wrong. Only do only what you enjoy, then you will be a winner.

What I enjoy...eating, sleeping, going to the gym, sleeping, occasionally reading a book, watching TV, sleeping, sleeping, SLEEPING.

I would be failing life if I did only what I enjoy.

Choose only a couple of activities which you enjoy and do them to the best of your ability. If you do it all just to impress, you won't impress anyone.

lol i feel the same way, monkey. After all the work ive put into this, getting rejected from my top choices will prbly destroy my work ethic. Oh well....this college stuff is lodged in my head like a tumor that keeps growing so all i can do is keep working harder until I crash and burn senior year.

If I only did what I enjoyed I would swim an hour every day, I would never work, I'd get drunk/party/or atleast go out with friends every night. I would only take classes that I enjoy, which would still be hard classes, but I wouldn't stress out so much.
Gah why do I have to be ambitious?

I know, it's ridicolous. And often times, your hard work does not pay off, and you end up at a safety anyway because there are TOO MANY applicants.

Stupid competition. Schools should just see that I'm the best chice for every school. But of course they don't know that....

you should be able to take a test that matches you to your perfect school and nothing can change that. you should take it in like mid school so you dont think of lying on it to get into a better college. did that make ANY sense?

I wish you could challenge college acceptees to a pistol duel so that you could take their spot if you won.

I wish I wasn't a perfectionist.

/me smacks everyone in this thread.

Get rich or die tryin! Gotta get the American Dream, right guys? Stay workin, stay sweating, cuz only the strong survive. :)

Ha, the American Dream... I'm writing a research paper about that as of now. Procrastinating the first three pages by tomorrow...
