I got an email from Washington U about playing soccer, filled out the online form it requested, and then got a letter in the mail today. The letter contained 4 pages.
1. Was an introductory sort of thing.
2. Was a form to give to my coach.
3. Said what kind of soccer players they want.
and 4. said what kind of students they want. 4 was the only part that convinced me my chances weren't as good as I thought.

On page 4 it said that they want students with a 29+ ACT or a 2050+ SAT. I'm taking the ACT in 2 weeks and I'm taking the SAT next Saturday. Currently I have a 1890 (690 CR, 600 M, 590 W) but I'm convinced I can bring my scores up to at least 2100. I've improved loads on my reading and writing sections; I honestly know I can get an 800 on the writing as long as I don't screw up the essay.

I'm a pretty strong applicant, current test scores and soccer aside. I've got great rec's, good EC's, ridiculously tough schedule, pretty good SAT II's (690 Lit and 720 US History), and I know I can write a killer essay on the application.

The problem is the math section. If I do get my reading and writing scores up to my desired range, but my math barely improves, will that hurt my chances? Even with reading and writing scores high into the 700's, I know a 600-640 math is pretty low for Washington. Will they be forgiving of a low math score as long as I break into the desired 2050+ range?
