SOP frustrations

Does anyone feel like that their statement of purpose essay will never finish? Never see the final draft?

I'm not sure how many revisions this particular essay is going to see.... and my advisor keeps saying they're all fairly good!

I completely agree! I've been slaving away at it for a while now, and it still doesn't seem to flow the way I want it to.

I've decided that I'm just going to send in all my apps soon, regardless of their deadlines, and just hope for the best.

Good luck on your SOP ticklemepink!

I've read and revised my SOP so many times that I now think my essay is absolutely ridiculous. Well, I have to send it out anyways now....

i don't think i've ever spent so much time agonizing over a blank screen. i eventually finished a draft and am now waiting awhile to revisit it. i hear you though!

The worst is when you have to completely redo the SOP or write special essays. Like layne, one of my schools (Columbia) wants a 500 word SOP, and I ended up having to start anew. Good thing they have my CV, because with so little space, there's little room for research experience descriptions in the SOP. One school left - Berkeley - and I'm tempted to just throw together anything for that last personal history essay. Thank God it will be over soon.
