Soph in HS with different learning style?

Just an update to all. Son has been accepted to Blair for 11th grade. I hope he finds his place to shine. Thanks All

Good luck and let us know how this works out!

I’m glad your son was accepted!

As a gifted child myself, I would do anything to attend a HS that would be able to cater and foster to how I think. I’m a junior now, so it’s a little too late!

I have a paper that was given to me from my elementary school that is a declaration of the rights of a gifted child, it’s very motivating.

That’s great that your son was accepted. As a “gifted” student who has gone through different types of school throughout my life (public school in AGP program; math, science, and technology magnet middle school; magnet high school for the arts), I’ve learned that finding the atmosphere that provides the best fit and opportunities is very important. I was fortunate enough to find this atmosphere in my arts high school, where the normal multiple choice answers were not considered the absolute answer. Until high school, I felt as though I was not performing at the level I should be. I always did well on multiple choice tests, but only because I was able to recognize the answers that were considered the “correct” choice.

Good luck to your son, and I hope the new atmosphere is beneficial.
