Soph & Juniors-Barnard College College Planning Weekend Jan 29&30

I remember taking my daughter to this event when she was a sophmore and we went back again junior year.

If you are close by, or feel like coming into the city for a weekend, It is a really informative use of time. It is a 2 day event

On Saturday they discuss the Benefits of Attending a Womens College

Students participate in a Q &A discussion with current Barnard, Bryn Mawr, Mt. Holyoke, Smith, and Wellesley undergraduates at the student panel moderated by Dean Jennifer Fondiller (Dean of Admissions-Barnard)

Adcoms from the participating schools provide a series of workshops:

On the Admission Process with case Studies
Financial aid
Essays
Interviews

After the workshops there is a mini college fair where students can ask questions, collect cards, fillout the cards etc.

The same format is followed again on sunday with admission representatives and students from Barnard, Columbia, Cornell, New York University and the University of Rochester sharing advice to high school students interested in applying to a private university in New York

Best of all it is FREE

There is still time to register and more information can be found on Barnard's website at

<a href="http://www.barnard.edu/pcp/cpwindex.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.barnard.edu/pcp/cpwindex.html</a></p>

I am going to 2nd Sybbie's suggestion. We attended one day only for the Co-ed colleges. You can register for both days or only one day if that meets your needs. D did apply to both U of R and Cornell so the info was really helpful (and free). Though Barnard is a Women's College, there were a # of guys attending the Sunday session.
