Hey, who else was accepted into Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education ?
Hi, I am not yet accepted, but I definitely want to be, I am actually going to be a senior next year, but I would like to ask, what exctly were your grades like to get in? like SAT and ACT and GPA? Also, How was your interview like if you had one? I am very nervous and anxious, and really want to get in, please help!!!
Hey
My GPA was a 4.0
SAT 2050
ACT 28
I had alot of medical and research experience that I guess stood out to them the most (essays are extremely important too).
Well, you shouldn’t be nervous. I had three sets of interviews. The first one was chill, I was interviewed by a student. The last two are the “intense” ones because I was interviewed by the actual admission officers. They asked about my life, why primary care and really went in depth when we discussed my essays. So I would say study your essays and make sure you know yourself in terms of what you want to get out of this program, why medicine and etc.
Wait so are you applying this fall or next?
hey @Collegebound97 thanks so much for the info. Yes I am applying this fall…
No problem, and good luck!
If you have anymore questions let me know
Thanks! Yeah, I actually do, so I have been really stressing to get into this college. Everything I plan to do in the future relies on my acceptance to this college, everything meaning even financially. But unfortunately, I have been really discouraged because many of my family friends have been rejected. They were amazing in school I mean A plus students with excellent volunteer work, and essays, but got rejected. But some of my current friends in Sophie told me there are some people who didnt do well on the SAT or had a weak ACT score but still got in. I am very confused, can you please let me know what exactly is Sophie Davis is looking for? Also, I have heard a lot about science research but do not have many programs where I live, can you please let me know if science research is truly important? my friend also in sophie told me she dropped science research the second half of the year. As you can see I am very confused…
Well Sophie does a good job of weeding out those who are not passionate about medicine or won’t do well in the program ( that’s why the interview part is very crucial! ). They want to make sure you have personality outside of all the volunteer work and extracurricular activities you involve yourself with. If you are truly passionate about medicine you will definitely shine through. SAT and ACT scores aren’t what solely determine your admission into Sophie.
I did a lot of research in high school but it was only a boost on my application.
yeah you are absolutely right, i guess the requirements look so intimidating… but i feel like the SAT and ACT definitely have some weight to them in order to attract those who choode studetns for sophie davis. After they approve of the grades, then it comes to how is your personality like. I have actually been in touch with them for a while through email.Once I get an interview i really think they will see the passion themselves. I just thought that in order to get an interview, there has to be a few things they really give preference to.
Hi, I am currently a sophomore and I really want to get into this program. I am currenty doing science research. I plan on joining the science olympiad team in my school as well as join a sport. Please could you give me specific advice of what you did in high school. I really really want to get in. And for grade, I am an ok student. In freshman year I didnt do so well. I was still adjusting. I got a 92 average. What type of research did you do? And what were the questions like in the interview. Should I also join my school’s newspaper. Please reply as soon as possible. Thank you!
