Sophie Davis admissions decisions

hey! I'm from new rochelle, westchester and i will be going to sophie this fall. I'm also going to be living in the towers and would love to have a fellow sophie as a roomie!

Hey im goin to Sophie too, i kinda wanted to meet some people even though the orientation is in a week, message me if ur goin

another longislander, awesome

what regents score is good for Sophie...over 85 or over 90...plz respond

For those who got accepted into Sophie Davis, could you please list up your stat's and your ec's?

hey im a senior in high school right now but im wondering if i need an SAT and ACt score 2 get into this scool or wuld one wrk cuz i hv to tk SAT ovr again nd also wuts ec's and stats

yeah i have the same question. my act is very very low and the sat is decent...soooooo idk what to think

Think like a competitive applicant to this unique accelerated medical program. The higher your scores are, the more likely it is that you'll be accepted, but they aren't the only criteria. ECs that show your interest in medicine, and recommendation letters that trumpet your amicable personality & other nonacademic skills, are also helpful.

fascinated07, I don't think an ACT score is required until after you are accepted. Ask the admissions office to make sure.

PM me if you want my stats, but it's kind of old--from 2003 (I think there have been a couple of changes to the standardized tests since then...).

doesn't sophie davis have a 6-month rule for the ACT? you either had to take in June of your junior year or you have to take it thru Sophie Davis in December.

can u only apply to this if u r from ny? do u have to take mcat for this program? is it hard to get in if you r asian. do they only accept african american/ hispanics?
thanks

dumbstruck1089, I have no idea. Call the admissions office...

ru03j89, please go read the school's website. http://med.cuny.edu

so i have heard a lot about sophie davis. How much people does Sophie davis accept into their program? What is the average SAT score and ACT score? I have very good grades and a lot of ECs. i will list them at the bottom. However, my SATs are very weak 1760 ( yes i know) , but i will definitely take it two more times. Does sophie davis really care about SAT 2 subject exams?

GPA: 97
SAT: 1760 ( taking it again)
ECs:
-Internship at Mt.Sinai medical school: watched surgeries in the operation room for one summer
-zebrafish research at mt.sinai medical school during schoolyear 100 hours
-YMCA tutorer/counselor volunteered 108 hours
-Team USA Dragonboat
-NYPD explorer Lieutenent rank over 400 hours of community service
-National Honor Society 120 hours of community service
- Varsity handball co-captain
-Volunteered at AAFE ( asian community organization that promoted co-op and equality for asians) 60 hours

I am of Chinese background. So what do you guys think my chances are? I am still working on my SATs and ready to take them in mid-october and mid november.
please if anyone, respond

one more thing:

i have taken english honors, math honors, global honors, ap calculus, ap biology, and ap us history

what's your CR/M ...not with writing SAT score?

How many APs does your school offer? Class rank?

i am taking 3 of the 4 ap courses that i can take at capacity right now. My class rank is top 10 out of 300-350 students.

CR is 1230, but i can definitely raise that grade. it was only my first time taking it.

which school do you go to?

i go to high school for environmental studies. It is a pretty competitive school, good funding, good scores on the regents

i have an 1860 (1210 M+V...plan to retake ) and have a 3.7 unweighted avg and a 3.9 weighted avg. I have volunteered 100 hrs at the hospital and shadowed a doctor for 12 hrs. Do I have a chance?

everyone has a chance
