Can anyone admitted to Sophie Davis BS MD program kindly let me know the admission facts such as gpa and SAT scores, subject SAT of accepted students? Thanks
Hello! I’m a student accepted to the Sophie Davis program this year so I thought I could share with you some information about the Sophie class admitted in 2015 (2016 hasn’t come out yet)
Avg SAT CR+M - 1350
Avg ACT - 30
Avg GPA - 96
I’d say for sat subject the minimum would be a 600
A lot of minority students get in, so if you are a minority that’s a big plus!
Feel free to ask me any questions!
Thanks. I don’t belong to minority. Any chance for 1310 in sat and 3.5 gpa.
Hello! I am going to be a junior this fall. I attend Brooklyn Tech and so far my average is 94.5 and took Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. This year I will be taking both AP Biology and AP Physics.
I did not take any SAT or ACT tests yet and plan on taking them this and next year.
So far the only volunteering I did was at a Brooklyn Public library.
I have only attended a club called HOPE which focuses on helping people around the city during events, fundraisers, etc.
I know this is not much at all.
Can someone who made Sophie Davis or anyone with experience please tell me what I should focus on this school year?
Do the admission officers really look into clubs attended?
Does anyone know any medical place in NYC that I can internship at?
Thank you!
Hi @brooklynkid1 ! I’m a senior in highschool but I didn’t apply to Sophie Davis yet… so I don’t know if you still want my advise or not… but I’ll give it to you anyway;) So first off… congrats on actually deciding which college and what program you want to get into… (alot of students have no idea what they want to do…lol)…now let me warn you Sophie Davis is a really hard program to get into…unlike other bsmd programs that just want great grades, Sophie wants EVERYTHING (except great grades…lol)… they want an ‘alrounded’ person. One advantage with Sophie Davis is they actually don’t really care for amazing grades and stuff (they do want good grades)…but they want ALOT of ECs, volunteering, leadership skills, etc and they want someone who is a minority and really passionate about medicine and primary care and someone who is dedicate to helping people in need and stuff. So I suggest you work on those things…Library volunteering is a good start(I volunteer at Brooklyn Public Library too:D) ,but try to do more medical related volunteering. Try to get alot of hours in hospitals, rehabs, nursing homes, etc. Also try and shadow a doctor (this really helps) and try getting into a research program near you (this also helps alot). So yeah try to do as much as you can now… clubs and stuff are good (they love clubs so try to get in as many as you can!) but being the leader of the club is even better…these programs really want to see your leadership skills…For the academics part…their average SAT and ACT scores are 1280 and 28 respectively for last year… so try to shoot above that and see what you get:) Also try to do some SAT Subject tests…And don’t forget to maintain a good GPA and get good regents scores and stuff cause they look at that too! But yeah I guess that’s it… so try to do your best and do whatever you can, but like I said it’s a really hard program to get into …so if you don’t get in… don’t worry about it! IT IS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD! I bet so many colleges would love to have you! Just because you don’t get in doesn’t mean you’re not smart or something cause you are! ( I know alot of people who get so mad and upset and they feel like they’re failures when they get rejected from competative programs like these… but DON’T be like them) I’m going to stop rambling now>.< So yeah… I hope this helped and if you had any other questions just ask! GOOD LUCK!
Hi since you were accepted i have a few questions. I did really bad in freshman year my final average like a 91. I am currently a sophomore and I still have a 91 average. I go to Townsend Harris High School. Do you think if I improve my grades next year as a junior there are chances. Its always been my dream to go there. I am currently taking science research and I have a 95 average in that class. I also volunteer in hospitals and I am part of the Science Olympiad team.
