LMNOP3037, I private messaged you =)

so after patiently waiting for a response, i finally got mail today. i am happy to know that i was not rejected, but now i must wait another 6 weeks to know if my name was selected off the alternate list. if anyone else was selected as an alternate as well, please post =).

also selected as an alternateā¦ ive been impatiently waiting for ever, now i have to wait yet another 6 wksā¦

do alternates really have a chance???

a very slim chance. most people who apply to sophie know that thatās where they want to go for sure so not many decline their offer of admission. BUT, i know someone from my high school whoās declining so itās not impossible!

@ artistcutee: yes i think that alternates have a very good chance of getting in. 70 people are accepted in the school. correct. ok well some of these kids getting into sophie were accepted into schools just as good and other programs as well. The letter did say each year the amount of kids who decline their acceptance differs meaning that there is at least one kid each year. So lets say there are about 10 alternates in that small group the letter said. 4 Kids decline their acceptance, 4 alternates get in. Just like shelvedmemories said, it is not impossible. So i wish u the best of luck =)! We have made it this far, nothing is impossible. approximately 1,200 kids apply, 200 get interviews, 70 get in and there is only a small group of alternates, who knows maybe its 5, 10, 15 kids. but they barely accept any1 to begin with, so it cant be that big of a group. being an alternate still sayss a lot!

for those of you who made itā¦are you guys gonna dorm at the towers? I really think I want toā¦but i would definitely want my roommate be another sophie davis student =/ So any of you planning to dorm?

hey guysssssssssssssssss
my name is norhan
(ask indicated in my username) lol

i was thinking of dorming also
but it depends on when class starts
would any1 noe anything about that?

cuz like if our first class is gna be at 6 or 8 in the morning, i prefer justt living on campus

i was thinking about dorming tooā¦ but I figure its only about a 45 min-1hr ride to sophieā¦so y bother.

yeahā¦i live about 1hr away from CCNY as well. But im expecting a lot of late night studying and possibly early/late classes. And i dont think any of us can afford to have our grades drop. And plus, when I factor in scholarships/financial aid, I would be paying only an estimated couple thousand dollars a year if i choose to dorm.

ā¦so do you guys think dorming is a smart decision?

From the students at SD that Iāve talked to theyāve recommended living in the apartments across from CCNY because their generally cheaper and bigger. Thats what I plan on doing if I end up choosing Sophie.

yea the curriculum is pretty intense, so it would be nice to know that you could just study in ur bedroom without having to stress over traffic and transportation.

i think i mite dorm as well :)

how much of a scholarship did u receive?

yeahh im really afraid of the intensity of the courses and i dont want to risk getting a bad grade just because i was tired because of commuting all the time. But then again, im thinking i should just suck it up and bear with it cause ill be saving a lot of money.

I got some scholarship called the CCNY New Era Scholarship Program and they gave me $6000. So that pretty much covers tuition i guessā¦with some money left over. I was thinking I can use that money, plus fafsa/TAPS, to cover room and boardā¦is that even a smart thing to do?

hmmā¦I think If I actually go dorming, I would end up procrastinating more since itās a new environmentā¦so I think Iāll stay home. though Iām thinking about dorming my sophomore year. I still havenāt received my financial aid from city collegeā¦did any of u guys get it yet?

nah iām definitely staying home. i live an hour and a half away which is not exactly close, but idk how to do laundry lol

no i didnt get it yet either

hello- i have a question is act needed for applying bc i am planing to apply for next year

Yes its required.

however i heard some sd applicant only submitted a sat score and got in?
