Sophie Davis Pgm.

I feel you anyboy23. I didn’t get a sophie interview yet either. Idk i called them a few days ago and they said everyone will know by thursday if they got an interview or not becuase they are sending out the last 20 interview notifications…but i still haven’t gotten anything yet!

does any that has been interviewed have to take a placement test at city college?

can you send an act grade instead of a sat grade??

What are the requirements?

What’s the SAT/ACT score range?

Sophie requires both sat and act. You can take the act at city college so the scores would only be sent to sophie. Don’t know why you would, though. act’s easier.

What are the score ranges?

Acceptance rate?

Acceptance rates

about 900 people apply
200 get the interview
from there, 60-80 people get accepted. This year, they’re only taking about 60 kids.

so ~7% acceptance rate.

Getting into the interview, I think, is where your grades and sats matter. According to the website, an applicant must have >85 gpa to even be considered. From what a representative told me, the average unweighted gpa of new students was 93 while most SATs were in the 1350-1400 range.

The interview matters A LOT. If you get invited for one, that means your grades and sats were good enough. Admission now rests on the interview.

hey, i had an interview already, but there was a survey after it was done, and the last question asked for a list of other schools i applied to. i’m scared that they might not give as much regard to my application because i put other schools like ivies and such, but sophie is my first choice.

does anyone know what they do with the surveys?

The 7% is wrong.

I just checked the CUNY website and it said 18-20%.

So it’s not too hard to get into.

I’m guessing a good interview with about a 2100-2150 SAT score with good SAT 2 scores would do the trick.

ok fine 18% then.

18% out of very, very qualified applicants. That’s still pretty tough. Be careful; there’s no magic formula that would “do the trick”.

Well I guess it wouldn’t guarantee admission, but it would significantly increase chances of admission.

Burrrns, you said: “This year, they’re only taking about 60 kids.”

That’s an unsubstantiated claim. The SD program is accepting the same number of kids this year as they have previous years. Funding for this program has remained plentiful. Anyway, everyone will receive their admissions letters/e-mails on April 1. As well, this week is the last week of interviews. As in the past, the SD program held a little over 200 interviews this year. The exact count will be known after this week.

SophieD, will the admissions committee look unfavorably on me because of the survey?

Hey guys I’m a current first year at Sophie Davis. About this statement I don’t think thats from the CUNY website because I’m pretty sure thats incorrect. I worked as rep to recruit at my former hs and from what I know about 900-1100 people apply per year to Sophie and between 70-80 get accepted each year. So thats in the approximate 7-9% range.

Also, even though its kind of late at this point scores really aren’t everything. While they are very important they look for a wide range of people not necessarily the 80 people with the highest GPA’s and SAT/ACT’s. The essays play a huge part. And once you get called for an interview that really is the deciding factor. Extra curricular and interviews really matter the most in the end after you’ve been selected for an interview. Anyway good luck everyone.

MetsFan09, when did you find out last year? Through email or mail? Was there a waiting list?

idk, maybe Sophie accepts more than there are available seats?

Wow, sorry. Guess the student interviewer who told me that was misinformed.

Hey…when i had my interview with the dean of student life…he told me that sophie was only taking 60 kids this year thats like 15 lower than the usual…oh well ive heard that we get results EXACTLY april 1…is that true guys ?

Not to make anyone feel anxious (ahaha allusion to my username), but NINE MORE DAYS TILL SOPHIE!

i hope i get in :X

I was told that, too. From several current students at the interveiw. Did the dean tell you why they were taking less people?

Yea i also heard from many kids that the dean said 60 kids, this is really a bummer =X
