Sophie Davis Pgm.

how important are the regents? say u have low eighties… should i just retake them all? (i have taken pretty much all the regents besides the 11th grade english and s.s. one.)

thanku SlimMan^
ok good im so siked bout sophie davis, but i had one more question, for the fourth letter of rec that has to be an outside source, can it be a personal recc from someone or does it ahve to be strictly from a place a volunteered at or worked?
thanks again :)

Does anyone know when and how do we recieve our ACT scores from the Dec.18 taken in sophie davis?

Hi yalls! I’m sorry if this has been answered already, but I didn’t want to look through the 93 pages of this thread to find out/would like an up-to-date answer.

I’m in the process of applying, and was wondering if anyone could clarify:

 1. You HAVE to apply through the CUNY app, which means no list of activities/short answer/personal statement? So I should/can send a resume?
 2. Can I send my standardized test scores online? I sent my SAT scores through collegeboard but the ACT website didn’t have CCNY as a choice…? If not, would I ask my guidance counselor to mail a score report?

My guidance counselor is no help as no one from my school has ever applied to Sophie Davis. :p

Thanks so much!

@artisticcutie The 4th Recommendations can be from anyone. Just make sure they’re good.

I don’t think they actually release the scores, they just keep them on file as part of your application. I’m sure you can call to ask though.

@kyangies

The Sophie Davis app is in addition to the CUNY app, that is actually mailed in, not online. It’s on the med.cuny website, you just print it, attach all necessary documents, and send it out. You have to do both applications though, the CUNY app is all online. I recall sending a hard copy of my resume along with my mailed Sophie Davis application.

For tests, you need to send scores officially from Colegeboard and ACT to CUNY UAPC, that’s where they process all applicants’ test scores. Sophie Davis also requires that you submit an unofficial score report with your application, so I just printed the Collegeboard and ACT pages with my test scores and sent those in with my app.

I’m really nervious about applying to colleges and i think SD is my number one school. I don’t know where i stand, but can you guys help me out?
p.s. i’m a junior

Thanks for answering my questions, SlimMan. But following up with what you said about ACT scores - when I try and search for CUNY or CCNY to report ACT scores, I only get "2950 CITY UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK BROOKLYN, NY, US ". Am I supposed to send them there?

yup i used “2950” code to send my ACT scores to Cuny. It is the code listed on the CUNY website

Hi guys,

I have applied to both Macaulay Honors at Hunter College and the Sophie Davis program. However, as I read over the website requirements once again, it read:

“On the CUNY application, students must list the School of Biomedical Education at City College (Code Number 0179) as a choice.”

Where do you do this? The Macaulay Honors deadline was December 1st and I mailed all the hard copy materials for the Sophie Davis program a few days ago. How would I put SD as a choice online (code 0179)?

Thank you.

when i applied (i’m a first year there now) i didn’t actually indicate sophie davis as a choice on my macaulay honors application, so you basically don’t have to. just send in your complete sophie davis application and you will be considered for admission.

Thank you satatam.

I contacted Mr. Wanyonyi and called the Macaulay Honors admissions office and they told me the same answer. Thanks!

Just to clarify about the recommendations: the 4th recommendation can be from anyone, meaning it could also be from a peer outside of school? How do you know?

Hi everyone!
Good luck incoming first years!
I heard that the fourth rec had to be from an authority (not a friend in the sense that that person shouldn’t be an eighteen year old peer i think).
It is meant to show another dimension of you (that was emphasized at the open house I attended last year).

@SlimMan I actually had crap regents scores. (79 on chem, but a 96 on the bio. We didn’t take physics so N/A for that one). In a sense I feel like ultimately they’re looking for people who show determination and an ability to become leaders. Honestly my essays sucked too, but I’m pretty sure my interview’s what guaranteed my direct admission into the program (not the waitlist).

Hey are you going skating, next Tuesday?
I’m def coming.
I miss everyone in our class so much!
If so bring a lock, long socks (cuz skates are quite uncomfortable, in my opinion without them), and gloves (especially if you’re a newbie. Don’t want your fingers destroyed by rogue skate blades). Remember the lockers are tiny. Think shoes and cramming a gym bag, so pack light.

omg for the cuny application i forgot to list city college code 0179 i just realized today is it too late?

^i like filed a cuny application already like in nov, but never added the city college code ugh im screwwddd :(

Hey!
Im really freaking out when these interview letters might come in just hoping that anyone knows when sd will actually send it out thanks!

The interview letters can be sent out at random. Some may get them this month stating an interview for February. Others may get it even later. You may even get them two weeks before April 1st. That however does not mean you have no chance because they sent it to near the decision time. Three of my high school friends got their invitations at different times. One in February. The other two got them in Mid-March. All 3 got accepted to sophie davis. This was for Class of 2014. So don’t worry too much.
Good Luck.
Btw, I am a macaulay-ccny student.

Sent in my application and other materials before Dec 31st. Waiting for interview decisions is hard :(

Hey! After we send in our application, how do we know that they recieved it? Is Sophie Davis going to send us an email or anything or should we call them up to confirm they recieved our application? Thank you for answering in advance =)

Hey cherrblossom19… idt sophie davis notfies you if they recieved all info… u should call admissions office and check ur app status…:)
